The Best Buy Demo...

...is the greatest thing ever. Period.

The entire thing was just hands down amazing. I almost can't put it into words. The only drawback was that the setup was right next to Guitar Hero III, which meant that the two demos were constantly battling for sound supremacy. However, after playing both demos, I must say that I wish I didn't have to buy GHIII today, because when compared with RB, it's almost broken. The whole Rock Band setup was just so much more natural and fluid. I think I might have to go back every day until the game comes out.

Playing the drums is the most fun I have ever had playing a video game. It was almost exactly like playing a real electric drum set. For example: One of the friends I went to Best Buy with is a great drummer, and he's not real into the whole music game thing, but he was able to pick up the RB sticks and rock "Tom Sawyer" on Expert. It just took a little bit to figure out which pad represented which, and he was off to the races. Afterward he was grinning as widely as I was after I'd first played.

One more thing, the demo setlist is pretty great, including Black Hole Sun (my favorite drum song right now), Wanted Dead or Alive, Are You Gonna Be My Girl, and the aforementioned Tom Sawyer, and Wave of Mutilation, and a few others I can't remember.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go to Best Buy and wait for it to open...

There is a splash screen after you finish playing your song that explains this is a special demo version that does not come with a mic or a bass pedal but these will come with the final product.

The drum tracks also show the bass notes but does not count off for the fact you are not hitting them. It looks like maybe the game is auto hitting the notes for you.

Is someone forcing you? I certainly wouldn't drop money on a game that I wished I didn't have to.

My demo had a mic, you could only use it in multiplayer though.

Except that the Les Paul won't work with Rock Band, so good luck using it as a bass.

Incorrect, IGN has tested it and the Les Paul does work with Rock Band. The Strat doesn't work with GH, though.

My bad - I was sure I read that the Les Paul worked with nothing but GH3; rechecked the article and indeed it is supposed to work.

not all best buys are getting it, i called 2 semi-local bestbuys one had it and the other did not, however the one that has it doesn't have it set up yet, ****. lazy bums, pissing me off and stuff, i put all my faith in them and they failed, oh well, go later, stay forever until nov 20 hehehehe

I wish it did have singing, if only so we could learn how the singer is supposed to navigate the menus. The mic that was there didn't have any buttons on it or any clue as to how that should happen.

This is incorrect - all of the demos should have the singing fully functional.

The guys at my Raleigh NC Best Buy had a mic set up with a controller. Only one person had the balls to sing though.

they should have singing. i sang say it aint so just fine. the time i was there no one else had the balls to sing though. so it was mainly guitar and drums every single song until i picked up the mic.
