Here's something to please anyone who wanted to be able Band World Tour mode, but unable to get other people to play the other instruments.

Play the Mic and one other instrument!

This is so much easier because of the mic stand that is meant to be available for the Rock Band Mic. Just play the game like a singer songwriter, stumming away while singing. Or, live your Phil Collins fantasies by drumming and singing! Why you'd want to be like Phil Collins, I don't know, but hey it should work!

Or... has this been brought up a million times before?

or you can just plug your XBL headset into your guitar and sing from there...

< peer pressure > But it'll be fun. Just try it. Don't be a wuss. Everyone else is doing it. < /peer pressure >

Playing an instrument, and singing is good training if you ever want to do that in real life. I plan to play bass, and sing for BWT.

Yeah, one problem with this idea that we found out though. I believe you have to up the difficulty every time you want to advance further into the career or something like that. So that means you'll be playing lead or bass on expert while playing vocals on expert too if you wanna make it to the top. Then again, that'd be bad ass.

Dan confirmed that you are never required to play Expert on BWT. There are a couple of Hard-only setlists, but they are entirely optional.

I was thinking of that too, but eh... Playing the bass and singing would seem a bit easier, but you'd really have to know the song ( as in lyrics ) no matter what you did. Keeping track of everything might become too overwhelming. But I will be trying it!

Old news, but still a good tip.

I'm planning on doing this for mine. I don't know how far I'll get -- thankfully you top off at Medium with only the extra challenges requiring Hard and Expert -- but even at Medium it can be hard to be two people at once, particularly if the song has vocal that are completely out of sync with the bass.

It's not the best solution, but it's the best we have, and workable.

my last idea i initially had was to

choose two people, play your one part while the other one fails out (since no one is playing it).

from one video i have seen, it looks like if one fails and can't be brought back, the whole band quickly fails. if this isn't true, then i wonder how letting the virtual 2nd player fail, how it will effect your fan base....

any thoughts ?

I'd do it just so I could pretend I'm Geddy, but I already want to be Neil more.

I was thinking about this point the other day while listening to something random. Most rock music actually has really really easy guitar parts while the vocalist is singing, and only gets hard during licks and solos when the vocalist is silent. The Bass, on the other hand, never gets that hard. But they're always doing something, sometimes rather tricky, during the chorus or guitar solo.

Best bet right now seems to be create a vocalist, and create a guitarist. Guitarist avatars can play either Guitar or Bass for any given song, so just choose the one that turns out easier for you. There's a good chance you can be on Expert guitar and sing since some of those chord progressions are insanely easy during the chorus. Expert Bass and Vocalist might actually turn out harder though since the bass will be doing some repetative but mentally engaging riff throughout the whole song. Just something to keep in mind.

It's been confirmed that if even one person in the band fails, you have like 30 seconds max to get him back in, and he can only fail 3 times before it's permanant. Combine this with recent reports of failing being really fast if you hit 0 notes, and that doesn't sound like a very good option.
