View Full Version : I know, I know another Rock Band 2 "Idea"...

As of now, we still do not know really anything about the Rock Band 2 drums. The cymbals add-ons seem great, but there is an issue I may see. The yellow, blue and green pads can be used for toms, as well as cymbals. Maybe the Rock Band 2 drum kit will be able to detect cymbal attachments and notes that are toms(or vice versa) show up as smaller notes (a la Hammer-ons). Just an idea I thought up in my head. I don't know exactly how well it could work, but it would feel awkward hitting toms with a cymbal. :p

If it's a tom hit a tom, you can hit either one.
One doesn't cancel the other out

I think you are missing the point of my idea.

During a drum roll you mean?
I'm sure this is already "done"
Oh, I know what you mean, so the player knows which to hit?
I dunno, seems like a waste of time
Just listen to the song twice, you should just know it then.

Think he means the game detecting if the cymbal attachments are hooked up, and then displaying the notes for the hi-hat slightly different than the tom. a-la, showing you which of the two to hit to keep it realistic, but not actually changing the requirement of which to hit.

Yes, but not everyone has that good of memory. :p

this idea was thought up long ago, i've personally been harping on about it since I heard it. The only real issue is that songs would have to be recharted and there's have to be a standard amount of cymbals. The ION kit comes with 2 and an extra 1 optional, personally I'd prefer to see 4. But the charting would actually have to be different for the stock kit compared to the improved kit, so they'd have to make at least 2 charts for each song.
I'll stop now because I fear i'm repeating myself and being redundant

It's not that hard to predict if you're going to be playing a drum or cymbal...That's what I assume their logic was.

Well i know just playing my Rock Band 1 I have no idea most of the time if its a hi-hat/Ride or a tom. (Unless of course its obvious..which in some songs it is)

I predict after all the aspiring drummers try out the Drum Trainer, the common and recognizable beats drummers often use will become second-nature to you. That's the way it is for me! :D

*sigh*
Do people not realize they game is out of design stage, and probably out of beta stage?
It takes 2-3 months from when the game is finished for it to hit the shelves.
