Not sure which one to get. I know right off the bat that the PS3 will be wireless but I know in the future 360 will have a wireless option. Does anyone know if downloadable songs will be the same for each system?

To be honest I'm not a fan at all of the way playstation has their store set up. I like 360's user friendly xbox live atmosphere. In my opions Playstation would be dominating 360 if their online gaming was better but thats besides the point.

I guess really what I want to know is are the downloadable songs going to be the same for both systems?

They should be. They haven't said anything about them not being the same. If anything it'd be in favor of PS3 since Sony owns a music label and MS doesn't but that hasn't mattered with the GH 2 DLC.

DLC will be priced similarly for both systems.

The PS3 will come bundled with a wireless guitar. The 360's will be wired.

You will soon be able to purchase PS3 DLC online using your PC. This will make searching through countless songs a breeze.

Do you have a lot of XBL or PSN friends that you look forward to playing RB with? If so, that should be weighed into your decision.

Wired is not that bad actually. With wireless guitars you have to buy batteries all the time, because the instruments won't work with bluetooth, unfortunately.

  Where did you get this information?

Personally, I'd buy the 360 version. Achievements really add replay value especially with these types of games. I also prefer wired controllers as I reckon it they will eat quite a few batteries. And I have friends who have 360's too!

I have a wireless axe for my PS2 version. Been using it for atleast six months on a single set of batteries. That's no reason to stay away from wireless peripherals.

There's already a PSP dedicated online store. There was talk during TGS about expanding to PS3, possibly as a feature for the firmware 2.0 update.

Achievements aren't my thing. Looking over Rock Band's, they are pretty uninspired and a lot of them you would accomplish simply by playing enough. Rock Band will have pleanty of replayability on both systems.

My main concern is downloadable content. I just want to make sure that the PS3 version will have the same downloadable content as Xbox. That's my main concern. I want to put down some money on a preorder and I don't want to get the PS3 version if their DLC comes out later than xbox DLC.

I too am facing the same dilemma. I want this game so much that I'm willing to do almost anything to get it. I have sent an email to EA & Harmonix & posted on here, so many threads about this with not getting much in the way of straight answers, but this is what I have been able to get: The PS3 DLC will be out on the US psn store upon RB's release & come out slightly faster in the UK/EU once the game has been relased (whenever that's going to happen! ) but to access the US DLC off the sony store, you need a US account with a US credit card (which most of us don't have unless you live in the US) but on the plus side, Rock Band on the PS3 is region free so a US copy will work on the consoles in the UK.

Now, this is where things seem just a little bit unfair & sort of ironic. On the Xbox 360, DLC will also be available on the US only at first, but as most of us know, creating a US account is very easy even if you don't live in the US & points are easy to buy off sites like ebay, but now this is the all important question & one I've been trying to find the answer to for some time... Will the 360 version of Rock Band be region locked to US or not? I would love it to be unlocked so I can get Rock Band on, (in my opinion the better of the two consoles), the 360. I know that many US games work on the UK 360 as I have quite a few including GH2 so I am hoping that Rock Band will work as I don't really want to buy a PS3, so I would most likely pick up a US 360 console to play on.

it shouldn't come out any later, i wouldn't think so anyway, but it is possible that there will be 360 exclusive or PS3 exclusive content though, thats whats happening for GTA IV, there will be 360 exclusive content after launch. However, I doubt this will happen in Rockband, but I don't know.

There has been absolutely NO talk about exclusive songs on either system. Neither Sony nor Microsoft would allow their system to release songs significantly later than the other system.

Sony's DLC system is just as useful as Microsoft's. You can use actual money with the Playstation Store as well, rather than converting your money into "Microsoft Points".

I think that system-exclusive songs would be a BAD move on Harmonix's part...

...a BAD BAD move...

PS3 would be dominating 360 if it had good games.

When games start to come out ...maybe like socom, :D, if they didnt ruin it like they did 3 and 4...I'll get a PS3.

I'm sure both versions will be nearly the same. Xbox will have achievements, PS3 comes wireless. I don't have anything to quote but I thought I read that both versions of the game played exactly the same according to game sites that have played the demo i.e. non Harmonix folk.

If you don't plan to use the online much then I would go PS3 but if you want to use online the 360 has more owners and more folks using online. DLC will be the same I would bet but more people will own the 360 version because of the install base. If local play is your main thing yay wireless but if online is your goal then put that x-box live you are paying for to work.

As an avid Sony supporter, I completely agree with jdr. If you are already paying for XBL, you might as well get the most from it. Sony is still lacking in that department, but I am sure it will improve in the future.

i should have looked closer when playing the game at best buy, but how exactly does the mic connect to the controller. i dont own a 360 so im not familiar with the controller. im trying to figure out how the mic will connect to a ps3 controller, since that's the platform i'll be getting the game for. it really doesnt matter since ill be getting the game anyway, but just something to wonder about before it's released.
