Stole this from a thread on IGN, but I thought you people might want to see this. At least the ones who haven't held the Fender yet. This was actually on GameInformer.com If this is old.. Oopsies.

though the mic plugged into a controller?

Yeah, I thought that was confirmed?

What I'm wondering is how the RB guitar measures up to the Xplorer... if it's really 6 full inches of length added between strum and buttons I'm in for a world of pain. I can't reach that far. (Disability, yo.)

At least the xplorer will still work with Rock Band, in case the guitar I get with it doesn't. Unlike "We don't work and play well with others" Activision locking out any guitar that's not theirs.

Um, No. I don't have the link, but I've been on the tour and they plug everything into the hub. The controller is used to select things, but the mic goes directly to the console.

Mic plugs into the console's controller.

Mic plugs into the console's controller.

Incorrect. You could plug in a headset controller, but the real mic plugs into the console/hub.

You guys are wrong.

The mic connects to the USB hub and you use a controller to select the options for the singer. the mic does NOT connect to the controller. You can even look at the end of that mic, clearly a usb connection.

As you lay the guitar down to play, I would recommend using the solo buttons at all times. While not in a solo sequence, they function as "standard" fret buttons and then only during solo sections they also strum.

It sounds like the best of both worlds. A bigger, more "realistic" guitar and also closer buttons.

could the mic buttons be on the underside of that little box thing near the end of the cable?

Sean already said that the mic didn't have any buttons, and that it would be linked to a controller. Not physically linked, but the player using the mic would navigate menus with a controller.

Awright, I'm having trouble with this, and it's mainly because I'm a lamer w/ the aging PS2 and know nothing of these Next Gen consoles controller setups. There's a USB mic, three instruments that plug into wherever controllers go, and then the need for a 4th slot for a controller to navigate menus? I'm guessing I need a multi-tap or just need to pony up to a 360.

The instruments might be USB for that too, Or you might have to get the mutli tap. Either way you won't be forced to get a new console. I couldn't see the Mic not being USB considering that Sing Star and other games are used with a USB mic and the navigation is done with a controller.
