So after the news of Rock Band hit, I've decided to revisit Frequency and Amplitude, and since I transferred my saves from my PS2 memory card to my PS3 HDD, I figured, why not?So played a couple of Insane matches before I came to the question, "Damn why aren't I nailing 100% anymore?" Well I think it's because of the PS3 triggers. Have any of you played these games with the SIXAXIS controller? It makes it so awkward (with the shoulder button configuration obviously). I guess Sony didn't have Freq/Amp in mind when designing the controller, because the fun factor is pretty diminished by the trigger L2/R2

Yeah I did the same thing, the R2 and L2 buttons suck for Freq and Amp.
I got used to the triangle, square, circle config, so I never noticed.

hmmm...i vaguely remember when I first played the PS3 I was like "Oh man, these controllers are NOT Amplitude friendly." I haven't tried it, but I certainly believe you!

-Robotkid

the back buttons felt weird the first time I played the PS3. That sucks though. Never played Amp. Is it good enough to check out?
It is definitely one of the best games on the PS2 to date. And if you can find Frequency, I'd buy that as well.

Here's how anyone with a brain scales how good Harmonix games are *Although they're all pretty damn awesome*

Frequency

Amplitude

Guitar Hero

Karaoke Revolution Party / Country

Karaoke Revolution Volume 3

Guitar Hero 2

Karaoke Revolution Volume 2

Karaoke Revolution

EyeToy: AntiGrav

The Axe (Get's last because no ones played it )

So yes, Frequency is regarded by many uh "true" HMX fans as their best game to date.

In no way is the above list gospel. It is a matter of opinion. Like for instance I kind of like Amplitude over Frequency. Debate on.

there will always be a debate about Freq vs Amp

bwwahahaha....i can only hope that it will end up as Freq vs Amp vs Rock Band(in the fact that it retains a lot of its elements)

Well that's the thing; it isn't listing best to worst, as none of them are bad games, I guess it's more of a "importance' list to us? I dunno.

My list?

Amplitude

Guitar Hero 2

Frequency

Guitar Hero

Karaoke Revolution Party

Karaoke Revolution Volume 3

Karaoke Revolution Volume 2

Karaoke Revolution

EyeToy: AntiGrav

They're all great games, but I prefer the mechanics of Amp and GH2 way more than their prequels. KR used to be the party game of choice along with Taiko Drum Master before GH came out. And AntiGrav was a fun game, but finicky and at points you just want to jump up and down and scream at it because of the controls. Well, I have jumped around and screamed at it, but it didn't help me much.

And remember, this is opinion, there's really no right or wrong here.

Yeah I did the same thing, the R2 and L2 buttons suck for Freq and Amp.

I
wonder if this is due to the drivers that Sony supplies for the PS3
controllers. For Frequency we had to get Sony Japan to re-write the
drivers for the PS2 controllers for us to cut down on lag time between
button press and the game getting the signal that the button had been
pressed.
