Have you seen the Rock Band demo at Best Buy!? Well, I Haven't, but I think this will be useful to help people find it, I'll update this list with locations people reply with, like tell us if your best buy has it, and when you checked, since I went to Huntington and Levittown on the 27th and they didnt have it.....

**Warning, there is a common problem with the guitars in that they do not register downstrums, just be forewarned that just because the listing here is green only means that it had not been reported yet**

The drums are incredibly awesome :D I was playing on hard after my 4th - 5th try. The guitar takes a little bit to get used to.

Well the way that they set it up in the Best Buy I went to was pretty dumb. The Drums were on top of the lower shelf part and the guitar cord was shortened so that it would be closer to the tv screen. My friend had to try to adjust it so that she wouldn't hit me in the face with the end of the guitar lol. They did not connect the pedal for the drums nor did they properly connect the microphone (they probably didn't want people singing in the store lol).

I'm debating whether we should go back and play again lol... We don't wanna look like weirdos do we? xD

Best Buy NoHo had the demo, but the disc was scratched and the idiot employees refused to open up the display case to try to fix it. Maybe it'll be better tomorrow. Being denied my Rock Band fix, I went over to Best Buy Chelsea (6th Ave. and 23rd St.) and they had a working demo set up with mic and drums. Unfortunately, their Fender must have broken and they didn't have a replacement guitar out yet, but the better employees there said they'd try to get one out as soon as possible.

Vocals and drums were still awesome.

The Best Buy in San Marcos, California CA has the demo setup. Oceanside, California CA did not have the demo setup. I didn't ask them if they had it in the back.

There was no controller for the mic (sad) but we did get some 3-player action going by stealing the Les Paul from the GH3 setup next to us (happy) and using it as the second guitar (or bass...whatever){What's sad...the Les Paul was unable to control the menus in the GH3 demo. You could still play with it, though). It's too bad that there was no USB hub...this means no 4-player rockin'. I think next time I go in, I'll ask them to hook up a controller so one of us can get our sing on.

My store in Dallas (off of 75 between Park and Walnut Hill) has a demo set up, however, when our guy was putting the 360 up, he squeezed the sides in and, apparently, this somehow caused a huge scratch in the disc, rendering it useless. We've sent off for another demo disc, but now the screen in front of it is black, with the instrument setup just sitting there. It's a little sad, because I'll walk by the display and there'll be someone sitting at the drum kit looking at me, pleading, with puppy eyes to bestow upon him the nectar of the gods and I, like a Bender-like god, have to inform him he's boned.

NoHo--has a scratched disc, but in the indefinite future when they get the disc fixed, has a drum set and guitar.

Chelsea--working disc, has a mic and drums, but their guitar is broken for now. They seem to be working to fix it.

Columbus Circle--working disc, drums, and slightly defective guitar that only reliably registers upstrums. Playing bass was fun, at least.

The Fashion Square Mall location in Orlando, FL has the Rock Band demo set up and playable as of tonight (10/30/07). It's hooked up to an LCD with a bit of a lag problem, but hopefully they'll sort that out in the next couple of days. Manual calibration isn't available in the demo, so they might have to set it up on a different TV. Demo setup includes one fender, one les paul, drums (no kick), and the mic... i didn't see a controller to get the mic active though.

This sucks I've just checked out three local BBs and none have it
The one off of Katy Freeway and Fry Road in Katy Texas is a no go since the female rep had no clue. I plan I going in person and finding out from someone who actually has a faint knowledge of whats comming out.

The same is of the BB at Highway 6 and Westimer in Houston Texas, they didnt even know what it was and said dont you mean Guitar Hero 3...I said no Rock Band...She then preceded to say no they dont have it.

Finally I called up the one in Baytown, the one I earlier reported of them saying they'd have it set up on 10/29. Turns out the man that was going to set it up didnt. The man that answeared is now reporting that it will be "set up in the middle of next week."

If the demo is any indication, this game is gonna (pardon the pun) rock. And to put in my two cents on the guitar debate, I think the RB Strat is much easier than the GH guitar.

The Wal Mart in Somerset Ky has the demo, it's in the Christmas section here, so anyone looking at thier walmart should check that dept. The cord on the sticks was so short I had to turn them around and hit the pads with the handles of the sticks, but other than that it worked fine.

I just got back from the one at the Holyoke Mall and it's pretty much just the drum set now. Something's wrong with the guitar (it's either unplugged or borken) and the microphone still isn't able to be used because it has no controller with it. The drum set worked amazingly well though (thank god) and I also think one of you guys might of been there. I just got that vibe. He was pretty good playing songs on hard/expert with ease. I started on hard and had no difficulty and eventaully was able to pass songs on expert, including Tom Sawyer. I'm amazingly impressed.

Best Buy in Aurora, Colorado at Tower Road and I70: confirmed working game with drums and guitar as of yesterday the 1st of November.

Microphone was not recognized by the system, but I talked to a sales associate guy (I talked to two separate guys, both really cool) and he thanked me for letting me know it wasn't working, and said he'd look at it.

The game is awesome, but I felt like a ******ed monkey on the drums, heh. :o

I'm going back later today to pick up Transformers on HD (got one of those Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD players for $100 this morning at Wal Mart) and rock out some more, and I'll give an update if the mic is working.

You can confirm that there's a Rock Band setup at the Best Buy in Palatine, Illinois. In my experience, though, the GHIII set up was louder, although the people playing it may have jacked it up before I got there. I'm probably going to go back Sunday, so if I do, I'll let you know if it's any different. But other than noise interference, it was fine. They even had a Guitar Hero guitar as the extra guitar for bass.

Best Buy in Ontario, CA (on 4th Street) has Rock Band with a 47" Samsung. They also have the mic (controller thanks to us) and we hooked the Xplorer up to it (also from us...who needs to play 2 player on the GH3 demo, anyway?). The Best Buy guys in there also seemed to be sycked, so I imagine this would be a good "long play time" store.

Best Buy in Rancho Cucamonga, CA was in the process of setting it up (on a small screen) at about 5:00 today. It's probabaly operational now.

The Wooster Best Buy has like a 45 inch hdtv set up, with all the stereo hookups and whatnot, you have to sit in a chair to play the drums (you have to stop yourself from leaning back).

The Canton Best Buy has like a 20 inch tv set up, and they have a stool for you to sit down and play the drums.


The best expeirence had to be at the Wooster one, because they kept on turning us down, because we were too loud (We were literally screaming the vocals), so I had to hit them drums even harder!!

Just an update on West Hartford, CT....

Only the guitar and drums are hooked up ( or working ) and the setup is only a lil LCD TV with no stool or chair for the drums and no bass pedal as well.

I played every song today....switched off on the drums / guitar with my friend...so killer.

Best Buy at Citrus Park Mall in Tampa, Florida just got theirs set up this weekend. Probably today, actually.

I played it today... oh my God this game is going to ROCK. The drums were the best. They have mic set up, Strat, X-Plorer, and drums (no pedal). I tried the guitar, and as others have complained, the strum bar is a little weak. :( I love the buttons on the Strat, though. The bar just felt really flimsy and worn out already and they've only had it set up a couple of days at the most... I hope HMX fixes this by the time the game comes out, or maybe have replacement guitars after release that you can trade in for. I just hope they fix the bar now, and don't wait until the wireless comes out... Anyway, I also like the length of the guitar. When I went home and played my X-Plorer on GH II, it felt weird because it's not as long. The Strat feels at least a little more like a real guitar. The solo buttons were slightly annoying because their so damn small, but I'm sure I'll get used to them. They made the Tom Sawyer solo a little easier anyway :D (since you don't have to strum and the strum bar sucks as stated earlier).


Anyway, yeah. I got a little worried after I played GH III a few days ago that it might turn out to the better than Rock Band. Now, though, after having played both (even though RB was only a demo!) I am positive that, in my opinion, Rock Band is far superior. At least in the overall presentation and the feeling of camaraderie that it gives you when you play with other people. GH III just doesn't have that certain "feeling" to it. You really have to play both to know what I mean, though. ;)
