[11:53] Almost all of the original Rock Band songs will be playable in the sequel, and sometime this holiday season Harmonix will reach a total tracklist of 500 songs.
With 168 current DLC counting The Who, 58 on disc RB songs, 100 RB2 songs, that leaves at least 174 songs to be released. This means 7-8 songs a week average for the rest of the year. Is anyone else pumped about this?

Only if MTV and EA have nothing to do with it. If they do, rest assured you will see the most unknown, obscure crap ever produced.

Some of the Madden 09 tracks are quite good, such as Franz Ferdinand and MSI.
Don't have to make it sound so negative : [

I hear that. I'm really excited for other games this fall, but HMX is doing a good job of keeping my attention.

I am not excited about the Madden tracks either, but here is what I see is still on the table.
Exclusivity to AC/DC
Offspring Pack
Lots of Nirvana still not showing up yet
And who knows what else.

Hopefully this means plenty of new, tasty albums.

With 168 current DLC counting The Who
Not that it really takes away from your topic at all but I just wanted to add that this can't be right because I have all the songs as of right now and I'm at 160.
If I'm an idiot and miscounted then I'm sorry

You made one error, 20 of the RB2 songs are later free DLCs.

One of the best aspects of Rock Band is opening your mind to new music you've never before heard. I hope that in addition to the well-known solid music, we get lots more up-and-coming bands in future DLC.

Agreed, I've found out about a bunch of bands that I'd never previously heard of that I now think are great.
Releasing the tried and true staple hits is nice too, though.
