Hey all you Rock Band fans, slavering over the release of the game. For those of us who aren't getting Guitar Hero 3, we have nothing to whet our appetite until November 20th; nothing to give us some temporary release from the agony of anticipation.

But, I have some great news for you! Windows Vista (and those of you who have hacked your Windows XP to use the Windows Vista Sidebar) can stare at this sidebar gadget to be reminded of just how many days, hours, minutes, and yes, seconds, there are remaining before 10am on November 20th, the holiest of holy days this year.

There are 12 different pictures you can use for the gadget; check them out!

I didn't read all the official packaging mumbo jumbo, I just hacked the Halo 3 countdown timer gadget; not like anyone's using that anymore! Just unzip the file into your Gadgets directory and it should be good to go. Warning: if this program causes your computer to punch you in the face or spontaneous burst into flames, I'm not responsible! So there!

Click here to download the gadget. (http://www.rockbandfan.com/other/RockBandGadget.zip)

If anyone's worried about the code being a virus or something, just look at all the files. It's HTML, XML, and Javascript -- no binaries or anything.

If anyone would care to translate this to a Yahoo! Widget, it would be appreciated!

Dude in the widget has a weird expression on his face. Electric_Zen's sig would make a way better widget.

Yeah, he looks a little constipated, but it's from an official video... And there are 11 other backgrounds you can select if you don't like it.

Really? Score!

Hope a Google Desktop widget is made available but I'm one of those semi-Vista users (Vista look and features without Vista) so I'll take this for now. :D

You can rename it to filename.gadget if you're in Vista, and just double-click it, I believe.
Or, what I did was just unzipped it to the Gaget directory. Then opened the Add Gadget dialogue and selected it there.
