OK so hopefully you've read that warning and if you don't like punk and you're in here. . . well tough luck. THEY'RE NOT ALL PUNK BUT MOST ARE. This is the music i like and i tried to pick some songs out that i think are good all-around pieces for the instruments and vocals. Bear in mind i am a drumming and guitar enthusiast so that might influence my choices. Anyways:

1. Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance

I know. I know. Now before you say anything, no i don't like the band. However, i do like the song. Closest thing to a "rock opera" i've heard in a long time. Kickarse guitar solo and drums and vocals are demanding.

2. Josie - Blink 182

I really liked Blink 182. One of the fisrt punk songs i heard growing up was Josie. Awesome guitars, decent vocals and awesome drums.

3. A Favor House Atlantic - Coheed and Cambria

This song is just plain awesome. So the singer sounds like a chick? whatever the music is choice.

4. Banquet - Bloc Party

I dare anyone playing this not to love it instantly. It is just one of the best songs i've heard in the last couple of years. No question

5. Helicopter - Bloc Party

Awesome guitar, drums and vocals. Plus it disses George Bush. What more could you want in a song?

6. Reptilia - The Strokes

Awesome song. Nuff said.

7. I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor - Arctic Monkeys

Awesome guitars and drums

8. You Only Live Once - The Strokes

Great song.

9. Understatement - New Found Glory

I like this song. Cool drumming

10. My Friends Over You - New Found Glory

11. Best Of Me - Startling Line

12. Want You Bad - The Offspring

Love this song.

Okay so that was 12. All i could really think of atm. Any CONSTRUCTIVE criticism or suggestions from anyone else? Maybe someone more experienced with older punk rock perhaps?

Much appreciated :D

Dude that stuff isnt punk, MCR? New Found Glory? Big difference between punk and alt rock or indie. Punk is Black Flag, the Germs, Bad Brains, Husker Du, stuff like that. Nothing against stuff like that but dont miscategorize it has punk.

How 'bout some Avril Lavigne, too? 'Cause she's about as punk as the artists you listed.

Gogol Bordello would be swell. And some more stuff from Offspring like "Bad Habit" or anything off of "Americana". Oh, and Bad Religion.

The punk bands that I would love to see are few and far between...but TSOL or Dayglo would make me smile.

thats the beauty of this game.. any type of rock can be on it, or dled...
I knew after GH2 was such a huge hit that a game wil come out for a band with 4 instruments..
I even wrote an email to harmonix saying it would be cool.. they prolly already thought of the idea but doesnt hurt right.

All kinds of rock would be good for the game... metal, punk, hard, soft, rock & roll.

And pretty soon, either this game and its downloads or another game later on will allow us to play any song ever released from any genre...country, rap, pop, or any other included.

The last game they ever make could be a full on music game, online enabled, with all genres and massive dls... thats is when xbox 720 and ps4 come out with bigger hard drives lol...

So yah im all for punk.. i want a game that covers all music. And eventually we'l prolly get it.

Ok, eveyone has the right to like what they want, but you sir have absolutely no clue of what the term Punk means. Every single band you listed (most of them being radio fodder for morons) is so far removed from the punk vernacular that the light from punk would take at least 3 million years to arrive at your craptastic setlist. Songs such as these and their ilk are the reason Guitar Hero is so awful now. Let's not go down that road before Rock has even hit the streets. You're right to put a warning on this post, for people who were actually looking for punk songs were sadly disappointed. you sir, should have your ears removed, for you obviously don't need them.

If you need an education on REAL punk bands here's just a few:

Minor Threat
Subhumans
Crass
Black Flag

Hell, even the Toy Dolls are more punk than what you suggested. Please take a musical theroy class immediately. Next you're going to tell me Bon Jovi is metal.

Mainstream isn't a genre n00blet du fromage!

However bloc party is indeed , NOT punk

If TSOL or whoever was mainstream they would still REALLY be punk, mainstream isn't a friggin genre lol

I'd like 'I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor' to be in the game, I just never thought of it as punk. Whatever, labels are stupid anyway.

Bloc Party is definitely not Punk, that's right. I would say Alternative.
Still a good choice to have them in the list. Though, as I said, I'd prefer different songs, maybe The Pioneers or This Modern Love. ;)
Kreuzberg from their second album would be awesome too! Love this song!
