I have 3 problems here.
1. The guitar is still chord fiesta
2. The drums dont look right with the circles, maybe theres a reason Harmonix went with rectangles
3. The bass note blends with the chart too much. At first I never even knew it was there!

AHAH and they're all still on the same multiplier and it looks like they all have to deploy star power at the same time

what a unique song!
EDIT:
AHAH and they're all still on the same multiplier and it looks like they all have to deploy star power at the same time
Wrong actually. They each share starpower and each one of them can activate it at any time to save themselves.
Also, has anyone noticed how crappy the animations look?

God, it's such a shameless clone. No one in the industry respects these guys anymore, that's why no one clapped during the Microsoft press conference.

I'm not sure if it's just the video quality or what-not, but the gameplay still looks pretty choppy. The graphics don't really impress me, either - too cartoony for their own good, and the bright fretboards can be blinding for someone so used to playing the more minimalist RB.

Why is everyone so down on Guitar Hero? I still love Guitar Hero even though I play Rockband more. I'm buying both games.

You people have to realize that Guitar Hero is created for those who like a challenge and are competitive, which is why there's a lot of charting. While Rock Band is made for those who just want to have a party/have a fun time.
Also, the circles were created originally for Guitar Hero. Sure, they look weird at first for the drums, but didn't the rectangles look weird at first for everything?
As for the bass blending with the charts, I didn't really notice the blend at all.
The ONLY thing that I noticed that could be a problem, is that all the notes seem to be a split second BEHIND the actual song, which could be really bad.
Not being a fanboy to either, just saying things how I see them.

because it doesnt feel like a music game...it feels like a video game. Just meant to be challenging, not meant to mimic the music.

The fretboard graphics look horrible, like they've been made in Flash or JAVA. Overall I very much dislike the look. I may buy the game just for the guitar since I do enjoy the additional challenge it offers over Rock Band and I won't need any new equipment for that.

I thought what we were doing is playing a video game? I didn't know I was making music for the masses to listen to. I am definitley going to have to practice more. :D

looks decent to me, though the circles are a little messy with the drums. The fretboard moves a little too fast for the drums (at least it looks that way compared to RB expert) Guitar looks the same but no reall hammeron sections to check out. I'm sure things are going to be tweaked and look diff when it is released. Look how the original RB demo changed to the release.

Is it just me or do the fretboards look ******ed. They decided to get rid of any patterns and images and all of that, but they kept it solid. You can barely see what's going on in the background and it all looks way too squished together.
The bass notes look horrible too. At least the singing looks interesting.

Looks meh. Maybe I'm spoiled by all the RB2 info and stuff lately, but it seems like deja vu.
We'll likely still pick up just the disc. I'm still very interested to see their full setlist, though.

Not another post shooting the game down, but at first I wondered why there were three guitars. The drum chart just struck me as odd, I guess because it's much easier for me to distinguish drum charting from guitars in RB, having played it so much. Anyway, a vid of a song I'm already getting in RB2 isn't going to pique my interest, I need a broader idea of the setlist. I'll wait and see till the next vid pops up.

The drums look very awkward. I didn't even notice there were bass pedal notes until I realized they were purple (pro-tip: purple is NOT a color for standing out). The fretboards also looked so... naked. This is looking more like a homebrew computer simulation (ala Frets On Fire) than an actual Guitar Hero game; it seems... soulless. Also kinda slow .

I don't like the way they charted their songs with all these circles... especially for the drums... it looks so messy and inaccurate to me. Anyway, if the timespawn for hitting each note is like in GH3, I think it might be easier to play drums then. 1/2 second before and after the note lol. Look @ 9 to 12 seconds on the video. I'm not an expert drummer but it looks kind of weird to me.

Jeez...for once could they actually make it look like the drummer ISNT a robot?

Yeah, what I'm seeing in that video doesn't really seem to go with what's going on in the song...

The drum chart actually looks UNDERCHARTED in comparison to its Rock Band counterpart. What's up with that?

Doesn't look that bad. Looks like Rockband to me! A little less sharp on the visuals, but as a game...same stuff pretty much. I'm really hoping for the RB1 drums to work with the new guitar hero...or atleast the RB2 drums. If the setlist is badass, I'll buy it, but I'm not buying a whole new set of plastic instruments. I still have GH1 SGs sitting around in my room collecting dust...I don't have room to just let a drum kit sit around!

The Rock Band drum kit won't work. RB has 4 pads and a pedal (5) and GH:WT drum has 3 pads, 2 cymbals, and a pedal (6). Its a forgone conclusion.

The worst part of it..
That the bass pedal note looks exactly like the fretboard lines.
Took me about 6 seconds to find out which instrument was which.

I think it looks fine... The guitar doesn't look overcharted at all. I just watched the hot for teacher demo and it actually looks really awesome. Your going to get used to the drum circles. It took me a while to get used to rectangles. The bass drum does kind of blend in with the fretboard, but I think that you will get used to that as well. I really like how the singing looks.

Please don't speak like you are sure of this because, you are in fact, wrong. Activision confirmed they will convert the 5 drum charts to 4 drum charts by detecting if you have a RB drum kit plugged in.

there isn't any overcharting in that video.

It will work. A Neversoft representor stated it will work. They said they would convert the charts into 5 notes including bass pedal. Don't ask me how it's gonna work though...

The songs themselves are chord fests. That's like saying HMX sucks for putting chords in Blitzkrieg Bop.

Stop being such fanboys, it's not overcharted, the songs played are chord-heavy. I don't understand why people have this irrational hatred towards GH:WT without even playing the damn game. The round notes were fine in GH1 and GH2 but not now?
I have both GH3 and Rock Band but I haven't touched GH since getting RB. However I'm keeping an eye on GH:WT to see how I like it, it has some songs that I've been requesting HMX since forever. I'll go with whatever game offers the best experience, I'm pretty sure it'll be RB2, but hey, have an open mind.
Don't just mindlessly trash every new GH announcement and scream "ZOMG ITS OVARCHARTED" without playing the game, it reeks of fanboyism.

I agree with every point you've made. RB is simply more fun to play... and win.
I remember on GH3 where I would play Slipknot's "Before I Forget" and want to kill puppies. The chord changes were cumbersome and unnatural with the charts way out of whack. That my lasting perception of GH's series going forward. It wasn't fun... It was annoying. Rock Band has hard songs, but they are beatable, and actually fun to play.
It just loses it's enjoyment when you get into a note-fest IMO.
