luckily, the whole repairing process shouldn't take longer than 4 weeks, so you SHOULD have it back just in time.



but i feel your pain, my xbox came down with a bad case of the 3 red lights just 2 days after the release of halo.

Buy a new one,switch it out,take it back since they apprently don't check serial #'s. Though I don't approve and pretty sure it's illegal.

Quite right... it's okay, though, they're sending me a BOX!!!

In said box, I must place the Xbox360... and they will fix it, and I'll be happy...

...until it breaks it again.

Never understood why people call it the red ring of death... it's 3/4 of a circle.

The red ring is when you have your cables either plugged in incorrectly or they're damaged.

I suppose red ring of death is catchier than 3/4 of a circle of death.

It's not so much cable problems... those can be a factor, however, the Red Ring is MAINLY a hardware failure.

When resetting and readjusting the cables don't work, THAT'S when you have the problem.

Cable and power problems are 4 flashing red lights.

if it breaks again, do they replace it? Does the warranty apply on refurbished 360s?

I think the warranty on refurbs is 1 year(?), correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know for sure, but I would think if you buy a 360 and it has a 3 year warranty, and you RR within that warranty and get a refurb, your refurb will still be covered under the same 3 year warranty.

Towel thing is a temp. fix. You do it too much and you run the risj of overheating the processor or actually melting the shell which voids the warranty because if the shell looks tampered they accuse you of trying to mod it.

Not me. *knocks on wood*

My brother bought the original 360 I played, and it was DOA with a bad power supply - 4 red lights. We got it back fairly quickly though, and never had problems with that one since then. I later bought a 360 as well, and I've had zero issues with it. Been just over a year with that one.

I've sent 7 of them back to get repaired... had to send my launch console in 4 times before they sent me a 2007 console.


I don't really mind it... long as it's free.
