Hey! First post on these boards! (/excitement) I'm not against the game by any means, but during my time playing the game back when Rock Band Tour was in "Oakland" (if by Oakland they mean Hayward) i couldn't see the HO/POs. I'm hoping it's not because of my color blindness. This little problem has set me back in playing games for awhile now. Usually puzzle games, but i'm hoping it doesn't effect my Rock Band experience. Maybe i couldn't see it because i didn't know what i was looking for? I have no idea. If someone could post a pic of how they look like or explain what i should be looking for if i play the BB demo, that'd be great! Help a brother out!

Well, Rock Band's Ho-po's are just smaller versions of the squares that scroll down.
If you can just memorize the location of the buttons, im sure you won't have a problem playing the game :)

Welcome to the forums Drew , HO/PO are hard to tell apart from regular notes from what i have heard and i too would like to know what they look like in RockBand.

I'm colorblind too but I've never had problems with previous HO/PO systems, and I doubt I will with this one either, especially since it only has to do with size this time around. I actually don't recall a time where my colorblindness has affected my playing of games. Maybe yours a bit worse than mine though. You shouldn't have anything to worry about like everyone else said.

yeh, i play by position and not by color, that's why lefty flip in gh3 battle kills me and that's also why i don't like it :(

in GH it wasn't hard to see at all since the all HO/PO were a note with more white around it. When i played Rock Band i only HO/PO during the times i knew it would happen in song and thankfully it worked. I'm still looking for picture of HO/POs but i'm glad i got some replies that assure me that it isn't a color thing, and i just completely missed the new design of HO/POs haha...

hopo's are now based on size of the note and not color. Unfortunately, SP phrases are now based on color instead of size (they're white instead of their usual color) I don't know if that's a bad thing for you, but you should be able to hopo just fine I think. :D

haha naw it's not that bad. I see color it's just that green and yellow and some times dark colors might be hard to recognize at first. It's a slight case of colorblind.

What? how can ppl not see the difference in RB? the size of the frets buttons are so noticeably different. I didnt even know there was a difference between HOPOs and regular notes in GH 1 and 2 until i read it on these forums.
It's much better than GH 1 and 2. If u could see the hopos there then u should be fine with RB.

The best part about the RB HOPOs is that there are lines along the fretboard between the notes. Regular notes are touching these lines, HOPOs aren't. Even thought the size difference isn't very large, it is very noticable.

^%#$ Colorblind People ;)
My that's an uninspired jab. As a friend of a very colorblind roommate and at the risk of derailing a good thread, you went about making fun of colorblind people all wrong. See, what you want to do is write a lot of text and color it green. (This works equally well with dry erase markers.) Then, fish through that long message that you wrote and select single letters or word parts to form a derogatory message about your colorblind friend. Color those single letters or word parts red. Red/Green colorblind is the most common type of color blindness, and your friend will be completely unable to decipher the message. You might need to adjust this style for poking fun at friends with alternative colorblindness, such as blue-yellow.

Tee hee.
Sadly, since this forum has a red background, it's likely he won't be able to read this much at all.

Great screenshot, RkBndDrmr.
Just as some additional (although, probably unnecessary) commentary, you can see in RkBndDrmr's photo that the three notes circled are about a forth shorter than the full size notes nearly strummed and towards the "rear" of the note chart. They do not reach the lines on the fretboard that separate each of the columns.
Sequences that trigger overdrive will be glowing white where the other notes are currently colored. (The glass part of the tubular "fuse" that these notes represent.)

I'm actually very happy the the fretboard on-screen is a solid color (for the most part). I'm colorblind myself, and haven't had any trouble with the GH games until this latest installment. I have trouble seeing the red notes at all, especially in battle mode. Sometimes I wouldn't even know they were there until I'd already missed them. :(
Just one more reason why Rock Band rules!
