AC/DC
AFI
Alice in Chains
Avenged Sevenfold
Disturbed
Dream Theater
Guns N’ Roses
Jimmy Eat World
Journey
Megadeth
Panic at the Disco
Paramore
Pearl Jam
Presidents of the USA
Rise Against
System of a Down
The Grateful Dead
The Offspring
The above are bands that weren't included in the original Rock Band setlist, but have become very renown on the forums when it comes to people suggesting them for DLC. Basically, it shows that Harmonix does, in fact, do a pretty damn good job when it comes to keeping track of what their players want.
Congrats. And thanks.
Now, we just need to get some Led Zeppelin. <--- Whoa, how'd that get there?

It's interesting you say that because most of the bands on the disc have been heavily requested, not just those you listed. I think you could find a sizeable majority who, if not requested them, like the songs on the disc.
But I do commend Harmonix for always listening to the community. It really makes it feel like we're creating the game, because our constructive feedback helps enhance the game for everyone else.

I didn't include bands that were already featured on the Rock Band Setlist, for obvious reasons.
Also, I just listed the most heavily-suggested bands-- at least, from what I've seen.
As, personally, I've seen many more threads established for, say, AC/DC, Pearl Jam, SOAD, Guns N' Roses, and Rise Against than I have for Bob Dylan, Motorhead, or Rage Against the Machine.
I agree, though; pretty much every band in the setlist was suggested by the community pretty frequently.

HMX has always listened to us. Hell almost all of the features in Rock Band 2 were from us! And I know we all requested a lot of the bands that were in Rock Band 1.

I loved it when Alex said "in fact AC/DC is one of the most requested bands on the forums" in his RB2 presentation the other day.
Not only did he manage to pwn GH by talking about having AC/DC, but he gave us some credit as well. :)

I requested Jethro Tull and also posted in every thread where someone else mentioned them, including Harmonix employees so I guess that was a good sign. Really glad Aqualung made it in.
Now about that Voivod album Nothingface...

They listened to the thrash community for real thrash. Peace Sells, Souls of Black, and Battery are all wins. All around pure wins.

If they are still listening, it's time to up the ante.
HMX, Rock Band 2 should come with free DLC for life.
Just kidding. You guys have done a great job listening and making RB2 everything it should be.

It was difficult waiting over the spring/summer when RB1 was not getting patched for a number of things (esp PS3) and the DLC quality had taken a lull. They really couldn't tell us they were listening and going to do many of the items we asked for.
Oct 19 might be a day off from work. I can feel a cold coming on!!!

DLC quality did not take a lull. You are not always going to get songs tailored to exactly what you want, it's impossible.
