You can find info and picture of the USB Hub that will come with the 360 special edition... The bad news is that it needs an AC adaptor... That really hurts! Hopefully we can find an alternative... Or else, I will simply use the GH3 wireless guitar for bass so I will be fine with the 3 remaining USB slots...

What's with the tiny little USB cord on that thing? The hub is going to be hanging in midair and constantly getting yanked out of the 360 with the slightest movement of any of the connected peripherals.

you can get a double female extension block if you need one. theres also a female end and a male on another length of cord on the other end for extensions. you need to hook it up to AC because with all 4 instruments plugged in, power consumption exceeds what the root hub in the console can give out. it needs must be augmented.

I can't believe it needs its own power supply, as if there wasn't enough wires hanging around I'm probably gonna break my neck when rocking out haha.

I have been thinking... If, as I suggested, you use the GH3 wireless guitar for bass and you plug the microphone in a wireless XB controller, you will only need to use 2 usb port, one for the wired Strat guitar and one for the drum kit... That way you don't ever have to use this clunky Hub and you can also keep the rear USB port free... I am right? Is the microphone still getting plugged into the normal XB controller?

I'm curious as to what the other hub (http://community.rockband.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=6222) is, then. Maybe another licensed product, different from the bundled hub?

Microphone is USB. You should be able to use the headset if you don't want to take a USB port, but that is decidedly NOT rock.
As far as USB hubs go, this is pretty svelte. Seriously, anyone who complains about this one probably hasn't seen many other hubs. It's small and compact. The external power is likely needed, since all the controllers will likely be drawing more power than the USB can provide. Also, less power usage from the console means less heat from the console (a very good thing for those of us with 260s :D ).

Yeah, I would definitely NOT want to try to pull enough power for 4 controllers through one 360 USB port. That sounds like a recipe for a hardware failure to me.
As for those planning to use the GH3 wireless controller to save a USB port, don't forget that both the PS3 and 360 versions have a USB dongle. You aren't saving any ports with going wireless.

Actually, 360 Les Pauls do not need a USB dongle. Only the PS3 version does. So you will in fact be saving a USB port by using one.

This is nice, and it helps. I'm just glad they didn't want to package it with a non-powered one.
