View Full Version : Will there be a Rock Band: Complete Set edition?

I haven't seen on any of the store websites or news yet if there will be a version of rock band that comes with the Guitar, Drums, and Mic... I think there definitely should be one. I love the idea of selling them per instrument as well (game w/drum, game w/guitar , etc), but I don't want to have to buy the game 3 times to get all the peripherals because if history holds true then the drums/guitar/mic's being sold alone will be in short supply, and that will be annoying as hell.

Plus, buying them all in a bundle with the game should yield a SOMEWHAT discounted price over them all together. (maybe 200-250$? - imagining each piece is 60$ alone.. thats 180$+game so that price range should be fine)

but yeah. anyone hear anything about an all in one pack?

I'm hoping to hear real confirmation of this.

Well, my conclusion comes from the fact that when I was at Gamestop yesterday, a friend of mine who works there said Rock Band is going to be $200. So therefore I think everything comes with it.

If it's from $200-250, **** GTA IV and Halo 3, I'm afraid I'll be experimenting with multiple instruments come Christmas!

Liar, no...possibly misinformed, but not a liar...I mean, she was reading it off of Gamestop's system, so call Gamestop a liar if you will.

Yes, and that was written almost a month ago, they probably sent an official-unoffical price to Gamestop to give people an idea of a price for this game. Its release isnt until the Holiday season as we know, and that price could change...

I only stated my personal conclusion, its not like Im an official...

That FAQ will be updated when new info is officially announced. The price has not, if Gamestop is quoting prices it is speculative and placeholder. I kind of have a feeling the the second we announce the price you will know. I have a feeling it will instantly be transmitted to every site on Earth. maybe even beamed directly into people's brains if we can figure out the tech. :)

I hope for a complete set edition, the guitars sound badass, I was originally only gonna get one (leaving bass to play with a regular GH controller), but if the price is reasonable (reasonable being around $250) I would definatly buy.

my god, it's still hell wrapping that price around my head.. but if I could only pick one game this year it would be that, so I better start saving. I just hope it doesnt go to 250, even 229$ sounds way better than 250 and it's not that much cheaper. yeesh. this better live up to MY hype =D

now that I come to think of it, if there is a package that comes with all 3 pieces (which there SHOULD be), it should also come with a Rock Band shirt. that would totally be icing on the pie. =)

It would make sense to have all instruments in one bundle, but who knows???

I could see that happening. Fifty for the game, seventy for the drums, fifty for the spiffy new guitar, and thirty for the mic, couple that with a small discount for buying it all and I could see the bundle hitting around $180.

Here's my shot at guessing the prices. If I get it right, I am so freakin' awesome.

Game: $50
Standalone Guitar: $50
Standalone Mic: $30
Standalone Drums: $70
Standard Guitar Bundle: $90
Standard Mic Bundle: $70
Standard Drum Bundle: $110
Rock Band-In-A-Box: $180

Heeere I go!

Game = 60 (50 for Wii if it happens)
Guitar (Wireless, IMO thats the only one) = 40
Mic = 30
Drums = 40

Approximatley 170 (160 for Wii)

In American Dollars.

My guesses. I think drums will be about the same price as the guitar, maybe $5-$10 more.

No way the mic could be 15 bucks. Guitar is usually 30, look at GHII.

It's just a mic. Maybe $25 at the most.

Also, these are wireless guitars which go for $60 at RO's site.

Because it is separate and was the first of it's kind. Plus RO isn't making the hardware this time around.

BTW, GH was 50 (on PS2) but went up to 80. Means the Guitar was 30.

Yeah but keep in mind it has an additional 5 buttons and is larger than the SG. And you said it was $30 for a WIRED guitar so it has to be at least more than that.

I messed with my guesses some more.

SoraRikuVGM
06-17-2007, 08:35 PM
Very Least 40. 5 extra buttons is nothing. You could do it yourself for 5 bucks. Wireless isn't that big anymore, especially if it comes out for Wii, because it has to be wireless.

The reason the guitar is going to be so much more this go around is because it isn't just a plastic toy, it's an authentic Strat replica.

I stand by $50 for the guitar.

Drums are bigger than the guitar, and though the shapes aren't as intricate, it is a lot of metal and plastic they're casting.

Again, I stand by my price.

The microphone is going to have to be decent. Nothing amazing, but it'll have to be able to pick up unique consonant and vowel sounds accurately, so a cheapy just won't do.

Survey says... I still think I was correct in pricing.

It might not be a "plastic toy", but it is still plastic. BTW, Harmonix themselves said there would be no way it would be over or very near 200.

The mic is def going to be more than 15 dollars. bluetooth headsets are still at the very least 30 bucks and this is going to be in some sort of housing so here's to hoping they release different mics. http://www.bluemic.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Products&file=index&POSTNUKESID=61ccdc90bdfdb8593b979937d4dacd5e]Blue Microphones (http://www.bluemic.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Products&file=index&POSTNUKESID=61ccdc90bdfdb8593b979937d4dacd5e) makes several high quality USB mics that all theoretically would be compatible with the PS3. I think I might hang onto my ps3 for the next months for this, the technology seems to be a little easier in terms of connectivity, being able to use ANY wireless bluetooth headset or any usb mic/headset would be a godsend. But they haven't announced whether the Strat would be bluetooth or some other proprietary technology yet but it wouldn't make a lot of sense not to.

Gamestop had speculative prices on the Rock Band periphreals within a day of the games announcement. they are purely GUESSING.

in any case i'm sure they'll have the whole kit to buy sooner or later.

Brock_Landers

I hope there's a complete package, because in New Zealand you STILL can't get a second 360 guitar for GH2 unless you buy the game again. Different game and publishers, but I'd still expect us to get screwed >_<

Well, that site says:
the mic is $30 (about right)
the game is $60 (about right)
the drums are $80 (about right)
the guitar is $80 (seems a tad overpriced)

by these prices, I can only assume that the package comes with only one guitar, other wise you'd be saving $130, and that seems like alot for a company to lose.

If it did have one guitar, you'd be saving about $50 which sounds fair.

c0nd0rd4myt

also consider that Gamestop is likely aiming high. people can make reservations on these instruments i believe. and if a person pays that price and turns out being lower, Gamestop is still getting the profit from it unless the purchaser asks for the money leftover. granted, there are probably alot of people who naturally would ask for that money, but theres also some who would not or forget about it.

plus if they give it as store credit they can keep the money within the company.

now if they aimed low, that will make people angry because they thought they had allready paid in full.

the game will be $60. all next gen games are $60. GH2 was $60 for the game and $40 for the guitar. Since this one's wireless, you can expect to pay at least $50 for it. My guess is it goes for upwards $60-70 as a standalone. (I think rockband and a guitar will only be around $110-120 though.)The drums will probably be the same. The mic will be $30 or so.

RB+mic=$90
RB+guitar=$120
RB+Drums=$130
RB+mic+guitar=$140
RB+Guitar+Drums=$180

guitar alone=$70
drums alone=$70
mic alone=$30

I think the most useful setup from a customer perspective is to have the software, microphone, guitar, and drumset all sold as individual modules. The benefits would be as follows:

* The user can purchase the specific components they want, without getting roped in to extra pieces that they don't want.

* They can add to their band over time. Beat the guitar campaign? Go buy the drums. Beat that? Add a mic. Disc gets lost/destroyed? Buy another.

* No unnecessary purchases. With GH2 360 you have people who want just the software disc, or just the controller. Due to bundling and lack of availability, they can get forced into rebuying a bundle for only one component.

* Retail shelf space. It's doubtful Target and Walmart are going to give Rock Band an enitre wall to sell just one game. That means limited shelf real estate to hold all the various components. A ton of bundles means a ton of shelf space. I'm sure Rock Band wants to be on as many shelves as possible, not shorted because it was too bulky.

Edit: The only caveat where I see bundling as possible is if Rock Band does direct online sales. That way the retail shelf space is not a consideration, and "cherry picking" users could still buy only their specific components.

If they do online purchising, i'm not getting the game, I like being there when I get my stuff. I don't plan on going to Walmart or Target to get this game either, but thats just me. I'll probably go to Gamestop or EBgames or most likely a Best Buy to hit this game up. But, whether it comes bundled or seperate, it doesn't really matter to me seeing that I'm GOING to get this game. In a previous reply someone said something about RB + Mic + guitar pack, i'd like that. Thats what i'm talking about. I probably won't get a second guitar for this game though, if the GH controller works with RB, i already got my Bass right now :]

don't go to Gamestop, you'll lose about $50 in warranties, pre-orders, and who knows what else they'll sell you. maybe a strategy guide?

bounchfx

um dude warrantees are optional and pre orders come off the price of the game, most of the time they give you bonuses for extra cash off.

nice try though

I'll probably order the expected bundle online, even though I prefer to pick up the game in person. Why? I don't have a car, and I don't feel like carrying that many large peripherals on the New York subway :)

I can't see the box being any bigger than 3 guitar hero boxes stacked onto of each other, maybe a little longer too. Although I've never been to NY so i dunno how crazy it'd be, lol

DShizzle1029
06-23-2007, 04:45 PM
I think we could easily predict that the drums will require minor assembly (i.e. putting the stand together and then setting the drums onto the stand, maybe hooking up the cord from the bass pedal into the main console) so if this is the case the box should be moderately portable if you had to get it from the retail store and walk back to your vehicle or mode of transportation.
