View Full Version : Are ANY of the Who songs not completely worth downloading?

I'm just curious. Really, all I want is an honest analysis of the ups and downs of the songs, because I've heard that some of them for boring guitar parts and so on. While I like the Who, I wouldn't go so far as to call them my favorite band, so I'm wondering if it's still worth buying all twelve songs. Also, how much space do they take up on the hard drive? Thanks to all the songs I've downloaded, I'm a bit low on space, about 6.1 gigs left. Okay, that's still a lot of space, but I'd still like to hear a few opinions on this song pack before I make the investment.

the only songs i'm not huge on are "who are you" and "eminence front". i wouldn't say they weren't worth the download, even to me, but they are definitely my least favorites of the pack.

go to YouTube and type in Rockband DLC The Who and put in each song. You will see each song played for you on expert Guitar. Be your own judge. there is no right or wrong. I only liked 3 personally

I play all the instruments, but rarely play bass. I haven't played bass on any of the Who songs yet. (damn job!)
I downloaded Behind Blue Eyes, Who Are You, Baba O Riley, and My Generation. I've yet to play My Generation on anything..(I really need to quit this job) but here's my 2 cents
Baba O Riley: Guitar is fun, if not really challenging. (I play on Hard) Vocals are great. It's a great song to sing, not too challenging, not too easy (again on Hard) Drums...meh. There is alot of downtime where you are not playing but when you are playing, it's pretty fun and challenging.
Who Are You: Same as Baba, but better for drums. Vocals were a little more challenging, for me at least.
Behind Blue Eyes- Played the drums for the first time last night. Not impressed. Too much down time, and to me the song is extremely short. Vocals, on the other hand were a lot of fun. Guitar would fall somewhere in the middle.
All in all, I think all of the Who songs are great. (At least the ones I got, I ran out of points. :)

"Who Are You" rocks!!!
It was the only one that I downloaded so far.
Crack kills brain cells, by the way.

I say they're all worth downloading. Eminence Front is kinda lame on drums, but other than that, they were all good on drums and guitar. haven't played bass yet. oh, and another thing: Don't let their low tier confuse you, they're more challenging then they were tiered. most of them should fall in the 5-6 range, but most of them are 2-4.
honestly, I listened to them all before the pack was released, and none of them sounded particularly interesting (outside of the ones I already knew) and they were all pleasant surprises.

MAYBE amazing journey
But if you get the FULL pack I believe you get 2 songs worth of MS points off so you might as well just get the whole thing.

I wouldn't call The Who one of my absolute favorite bands, and even then only a few of my favorite songs of there's actually made the cut. I don't even care that much for "Who Are You" (either the song or the album... I think Townshend saved his best writing for Empty Glass) or "Behind Blue Eyes." Still, I'd have to call this one of the most amazing DLC packs out there: an absolute bargain at twenty bucks.
Eminence Front was the only dud of the bunch as far as I'm concerned, and it ain't horrible. There's so much quality and variety in the rest, you'll kick yourself for not giving them a try. Young Man Blues is already one of my favorite songs in the game. Amazing Journey and Real Good Looking Boy sound extraordinary. The live tracks sound like nothing else in the game. Sea and Sand is like nothing else in the game. Leaving Home and Going Mobile are superior, distinctive genre crossovers. Really, you can't miss with this pack. Unless your musical tastes are extremely narrow, there's something here for you and an instant boost to the variety of your DLC.

I love Eminence Front because it's not the hardest song ever on drums :D
Young Man Blues is hardly regarded as the best song in the pack, but I skipped it because I have ears and know there's no way in hell I could beat the song.
I did beat Sea+Sand and Eminence Front on sight read ... and I'm not the greatest expert player ever, I'm not even that good I suppose... but I got so pumped up when I beat Sea+Sand. Came like 89%-97% on a couple others too.
That 97% hurt, because I'm pretty sure I saw the end of the song :\
