Rock Band already has tons of bands from the "2000s", and after things get fleshed out with some more '80s stuff, I personally think Franz Ferdinand would be a good choice.

They aren't obscure, as they're a top band in the UK, and have had success in the U.S.. They've already been in a game like this (Guitar Hero), so why not Rock Band? Almost all of both of their albums are great for this game (tricky drums, guitar and bass are memorable, and vocals are interesting...).

Does anyone agree?

If not, post a recent band you'd like to get in. (Keep them semi-mainstream, as the most uber-hardcore metal bands probably wont be making it in...)

They Might Be Giants' new album has a couple of neat songs on them. That said, they don't seem like the type to end up in a music game.

it would be great to have My Chemical Romance on the game, I loved the addition of the song Dead! on the Xbox360 game version of GH2
same with fall out boy, et cetra

There are very few new bands I like...

I AGREE! It needs some good MCR songs, like Welcome To The Black Parade or any others really.

No MCR, period. The instrumental play are not too impressive and the vocals are WAY too whiney.

I agree that Ferdinand would be a great addition. Personally, however, I would do anything to have the chance to add all of Placebo's albums to my game. They may have only had a hand full of songs become popular (and only fleeting at that) in the US, but they are HUGE in the UK and Europe in general. I cannot be the only fan here in the US especially after they just finished touring here again. What does everyone else think?

Kaiser Cheifs ftw. If they put in Ruby or I Predict A Riot then I'll be happy.

How about we get Real rock into the game first. How about some Eagles, Zeppelin, the Moving Pictures album, Hendricks, pretty well most of the songs on the top 100 guitar songs.

These are far more important to Franz Ferdinand and defienetly more important than My Chemical Suicide and Blow out boy.
I actually like Ferdinand's first album, but the second was garabage and there is much better songs/artists than any of these mentioned before this post.

I believe the idea of this thread was CURRENT bands not heavy hitters of last century (meant literally, not as a slam). All your suggestions are good, but the newer generation of music, no matter how you feel about it, deserves a shot at it too. Besides, let's just be honest here, who are the majority of purchasers of RB going to be? Yup, young people who are into the afore mentioned bands you seem to hate so much. We aren't talking about the rock and roll history museum. This is a product meant for mass purchase.

And more people like Zeppelin than any of the bands you mentioned.
