View Full Version : Can we please have a RB2 drum trade-in?

I bought RB at launch, and went through my replacement drum kit. Now I find out places like GameStop don't buy back drums (they take guitars...just no drums).

So my plan to buy the special edition and sell-back my old instruments won't work. Which means I'm "stuck" with the old drum kit. (I can't sell just the kit because most people will either buy RB2 if they need drums or will already have drums).

Is there ANYWAY that HMX can put together a drum exchange for those of us unable to trade back our old RB1 drums? I'll pay some 'difference' or fee if need be...but I really don't want two drum kits...and the improved kit with RB2 sounds VERY worthwhile.

I don't normally complain about things associated with RB, and I know that HMX has no control over the secondary market, but I think it'd be a great sign of good faith to help people out who want to upgrade but have no place for their old drums.

Honestly, I'm thinking that eBay will be a great place to get rid of your old drum kit. With your RB1 kit being compatible with RB2, there will likely still be demand for the older set.

I highly doubt they'll go through with this, though I think it'd be very awesome if they did.

I'm keeping my RB1 set for when guests want to challenge me on the drums

NOt looking good... a quick search on ebay for "rock band drums" shows a ton of drums that aren't even going for $40.

If you're worried about $30-40 then ebay. If you ever have friends over that'd be up for a drum duel, keep them. If you really have no need for them and can live without said ebay selling, end a The Who song in true form and smash the heck out of them. That may be worth more than $30, especially if you do it with alot of people around. Then casually walk into the other room and bring out the new set. This will guarantee your rock status among said people. I'd even go as far as to leave the old drums around on the floor for the remainder of the night.

They absolutely should, because the infinite warranty runs out in Oct., yet the hardware hasn't been fixed. So basically come Oct. all RB owners get a big FU, because they are stuck with faulty hardware that breaks constantly, but won't be able to replace it. It took me three RMAs before I got a drumset where all the pads registered for cryin' out loud. I won't be surprised when my current one craps out.

Keep 'em. Stick them in the garage and save them for when your RB2 kit breaks. (:

Do this. I will absolutely do this if I get a better set, it'll be totally worth it.

I've got an extra POS real electric guitar lying around, I might even pull it out from behind a couch at the end of My Generation and use it to smash the drums. I probably won't do this, but if I do I'll be sure to tape it (it'd be around christmas).

I paid (nearly) $200 for Rock Band and its instruments that I thought would work but having to replace 3 drumsets (none-of-which were my fault) I think we should at least get a trade in for a decent pair!

I've had to replace drum sets once, but that's not a major problem. I barely play the drums, but that's usually because I suck, so since the drum trainer, and No Fail mode will help me get more practice, I'm kind of excited to finally start drumming. However, now that all the instruments work with GHIV all I need are the extra cymbals to play that as well, though they won't work with my current drum set.

So I have two options, stick with the old set or drop another $200 despite already having 2 guitars, a drum set, and a mic. I just wish they would sell instruments individually at launch because from the looks of things I'm going to have to wait a while to upgrade.
