View Full Version : Suggestion for RB game (improvements)

I want to make some suggestions for the game, where is the best place to do it? (for future reference)
For now I'll do it here, move it if you need to.
Progress bar, I want to know how far through the song I am, if I have a full Star Power meter, I don't want to hit the last note without using it.
Note counter, when trying for the note streak awards, this would be useful.
Multiplayer. Any chance we could have a 4 player on one console mode, where one set of notes is diplayed, and everyone has to hit those notes (say if four of you have a guitar) and the winner is the most notes hit. This would be great as when the mates come over it wouldnt mean two of them sat there doin' sod all.
Better stats, as well as what I scored on a song, I would like to be able to look back and see what my percentage was, what note streak I got etc. At the moment I have to keep and Excel spreadsheet, it bored the crap out of me but at least I can see what songs I have done well on at what level etc.
Remove the songs you bought that you dont like, I have a list of songs longer than an Essex Dole queue and can't remove the ones I dont like.
Pick the difficulty at the start of the song, what a ball ache it is switching from Hard to Expert and back again.
Scores count in multiplayer mode, If I am logged in to live and beat a song, cant it count to the game?
6 weeks extra holiday a year to play RB
In the multiplayer part of RockBand, will you have the option for one of the musicians to sing? (thus getting a bonus)
An option to not have a Fret with a pattern, as sometimes I don't see the blue notes.
Wireless peripherals.
Rock Band II gets a keyboard player too
Effects pedal? is this comming?
If you have every played anyone who is really bad at GH, the Plink Plink, beerrgghh beerrgghh is really distracting, an option to stop audible errors might be nice (just the screen shakes will be fine)
'Get lost I'm playing GH make your own ferkin' dinner' T-Shirt to be supplied with the game
Online Rankings/Scores - attempting Hard/Expert seems to mean nothing when people are getting mega scores for plinking away to medium songs, needs balancing IMHO.
Thats it, great game, 12 songs to go on Expert and I will be a true GH

Watch out for Carry Me Home, until you get good at long hammer ons, the opening will destroy you.
The song is pretty easy after that, though, so it's not too bad.

I know this sounds weird, but everything looks almost perfect so far.

Here's a great suggestion I saw over at Scorehero:

You know what I think would be a really cool feature.. .would be if they allowed you to join a bands online performance as an observor. The band could toggle whether or not to allow an "audience" and if they had it set to allow, you could join and watch/listen to the band's performance with or without the fretboards. - actually, I would like to see the fretboards to SEE how good they are doing
That way the top bands on scorehero could *really* show their stuff, literally have online concerts and such...
I really REALLY like this idea - You could "tune in" over xbox Live! and enjoy the virtual concert.
This just is really growing on me. Nice!
What a great way to check out what others are doing, you could almost have RockBand Xbox Live! Casts (TM pending...:) I love it!!!! DO IT

Just turn the sound effects off. Unfortunately, there's no way to turn all of the effects off in 2 like there was in the first game. So the audience is audible at times when you miss a key note/chord even if all the sound effects are turned off. And that clapping nonsense is automatically turned on with Star Power when the sound effects are off. I'd like all of the sound effects to be volume-controllable in RB and not just some of them.

The whole song kills me. I've died on the verses. http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/373/1182010606984copyml0.gif

This is an essential feature. If Harmonix can't work something out to make it happen I'm simply not gonna buy the game.

Voice over Multiplayer....An option for the other band mates to either A) Listen to your singer, or B) Listen to the track vocals instead. That way not everyone is limited to hearing really bad vocals, but the singer at home can sing their little heart out. If they misses a note, perhaps the track could make a fail noise like the guitars?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, include the option to listen to the original vocals over the multiplayer singer. If someone is doing a good job, sure I'll have a listen, but if someone is butchering it I'd much rather have the original vocals, otherwise it could be distracting enough to make mistakes when playing your part.

Noooo, thats a silly idea. The idea of the game is to play together. Insulting your singer by not actually listening to them is not going to win you any friends. If want original vocals then either play as a three some (drummer and two guitars) or play the single player version.

I agree, I've got a feeling that if someone is a sucky singer they arent gonna go on Live and embarass themselves.

Well I'm going on the assumption that if you're not partied up with some friends and want to play multiplayer, it will try and form up a proper foursome, thus giving you a stranger on vocals. I've heard enough bad karaoke in my life that I don't need to listen to it when I'm trying to enjoy a kickass video game. Like I said, if the singer is good then there is no problem. But if the guy can't hold a tune, one little option to mute him would be super.

My girlfriend likes to watch American Idol, so I see bits and pieces of it by proxy. Do you have *any idea* how many bad singers out there think they can sing better than Jesus? It's astounding. I blame faulty encouragement from parents! IF your kid sucks at singing, don't encourage them! Buy them a guitar!

Disagree. Part of the challenge of playing a band is keeping your part together when someone else screws up. It's why you should definitely get stuck hearing the mistakes of your bandmates. And that's the sort of thing that makes it feel like playing in a band, rather than 4 people individually playing separate parts.

It's a tough call.. not having multplay singing always audible kinda ruins the spirit of the game, but the option to switch to the original track will also mean unknown/bad-mediocre singers will have a MUCH easier time finding bands to join when they logon to Live/PSN.
And for the record, not allowing us to choose what positions in the band are open to fill would be a giant sin.

I don't suck at singing, but being "14", I have a kid voice. I'm actually pretty good at singing. Thank you Mom's singing genes.
I'll be a singer in a Band if anyone wants to make one on this forum. But I'll use Wii. :P

I like alot of those ideas....
Also, for the PS3 owners, when HOME comes out, there should be T's for your avatar, that show your band logo (confirmed stuff, correct?) and your position in the band, along with your name.

Regarding the "I dont want to hear people singing when I'm trying to play" thing going on....
It might not be possible to even if you want to. Due to latency (lag) problems when playing online it may be impossible to hear the singer because they would be out of time with the song.

One suggestion I would like to add is the ability to see your 'High Scores' more easily. Right now I'm trying to increase my career score to move myself up on the XBOX Live Leaderboards (With little success I might add!)
In order to know what the high score you have is, you get a little letter by your name. Good, not great. I tend to upload my score to scorehero.com and compare my scores to everyone else to see what I can potentially get on a song if I do well in Hard mode, or in some of the lower tiers, improve it by upping my score in Medium.
I would just like an easier way to view your scores, maybe doing a stats by song will give you your ranking, and scores on each difficulty mode. Give you more of an idea on where you need to improve based on your current skill levels
While on the subject of scorehero, it would be nice to be able to automatically upload your high scores to scorehero (Not wanting to phase out the great work that scorehero has done...do I smell partnership?) without having to manually input scores for each difficulty level.

I give you guys about a week of playing multiplayer and having to listen to your multiplayer vocalist before begging for the option to switch it on or off. Like I said, if it's a good singer then I have no problem hearing his take on a song. But if it's a 16 year old who decides he doesn't want to even sing the song, and just talks gibberish or swears at the other people playing for 4 and a half minutes, I want the option to replace his annoying ass with the master vocals.
Think of it as Rock Band's version of team-killing, or something. You *know* people are going to do it. And like a previous poster said, some of the people playing will be 12 and 14 years old. Even if you're a good singer, at that age you're going to have a high-pitched voice, which just isn't going to sound right on some songs, even if you can get the words right.
All I'm asking for is the OPTION. If we can mute annoying people with mics in all the other games, we should have the option to do so for vocalists here. I see it as just another way a bored kid can annoy me over the internet when I'm trying to enjoy some of my limited free time.

For lack of better words, just don't play with 12 or 14 year old kids. I havn't done any online gaming on consoles before as i don't own any next gen consoles (yet), but I'd assume there would be some way to make a 'friends list' and also a list of people you can block. If not perhaps there should be.
