Was anyone else thinking of undressing a woman whilst reading?

Total secks. All the packaging is such a tease.

Ooh nice find. I'm sure I'll just rip those twistie ties to oblivion when opening the package. I can't wait to get my hands on it all!

The USB hub, the power adapter for the USB hub (boo), and two Headset adapters that let you attach your Xbox 360's headset microphone to the controllers for communication during gameplay.

Very interesting...

Also, negative points for complaining about the powered USB hub. You'd think someone at Wired would understand why it would be needed...

How'd he get it so soon?

Now if only they had a PS3 box getting opened... *sigh*

Really, though. Now I'm wondering whether the PS3 version gets a nifty little headset adapter. I hadn't heard anything like that before now.

Holy crap! That wasn't on the page when I first read it, but I just refreshed and BAM!

Don't they have monitors for their comments? Jeez-o-pete.

Edit: I guess it was there, but my eyes must have hidden it from me.

He works for Wired magazine..

All of the comments on that page are pretty useless and stupid.

I was thinking about the name "Wired" and the fact that being "wired" is really no longer a symbol of high tech, and I wondered how long before they change the name of the magazine to "Wireless". :D

Someone in another thread said Gamestop is supposed to start getting shipments on 11/6, so it's pretty likely that it is done.

I swear I can hear someone in the background singing for him....., the fact you cant see whether hes wearing a headset or not raises enough suspicion.

Well, he probably hasn't turned off the singer's voice on the game, which is why you can hear two people singing.

HOLY SH**.

In the immortal words of Xzyliac... SECKS.

EDIT: For anyone who watched the video of him singing and playing guitar: I noticed (and maybe it's just me) when he activated star power (or whatever it's called in RB), the notes looked a little harder to read because of the color effects on the fret board. Anyone else notice this?

I'm particularly interested by the photo of the big pink sheet stating that defective gear is supposed to be handled through EA and not a return the retailer itself. Is it safe to assume that most retailers are going to ignore this and you'll be able to bring the gear back to the store you purchased it at?

Although in my case since I'm buying it in the USA and bringing it back to Canada, the fact that I can do something about potentially defective gear online instead of being totally out of luck is something of a relief. I can only hope now that Harmonix has better luck with the quality of their peripherals than Red Octane has with GHIII.

I think it is just saying that if an individual piece of gear breaks, you should let EA deal with it, unless you want to return the whole package to the store.

With the size and expense of a bundle it is not surprising that they wouldn't want people to return the whole thing in order to deal with defects in a single component.

Yes, this makes a lot of sense. I'm also hoping this means that some kind of online registration will be required since I'm taking the unorthodox route of picking it up while in the US for Thanksgiving and bringing it back with me to Canada. At least this way, there will be less likelihood of headaches if I open the thing up and find everything works fine except the guitar. It's not so bad if I can keep the rest but have to send the guitar away for an exchange. I'm just paranoid now about some kind of dongle fiasco or poor construction issues after what's been happening in the wake of the GHIII launch, but then that's the risk you take when you early adopt.

That was pretty nice. Though the comments depress me. "Rock Band is for losers", "Rock Band is for girls", ect. And that little racial slur wasn't necessary. Ah well, that's what happen when you give people the magic of internet anonymity. :(

But anyway, I seriously can't wait to play this. :D

Well, not to disappoint anyone, but Wired's copy isn't the full retail build, despite its fancy packaging. I just got off the phone with a HMX rep who said that the actual retail builds won't be shipping out to anyone for at least another 10-15 days.

That being said, the boxes showing up at Walmart aren't going to be the full game either...

That's interesting. I wonder how they are different from the retail versions. They definitely aren't the same as the demos.

But he's got a screen shot of the first two tiers, which includes songs not available in the demo. Not to mention that his drum kit includes the kick pedal and microphone.

I'm thinking this is the full build for review purposes only. So, the rep was right in that it's not a retail build, but I'd warrant it's a full, final build.

And that warning might just come in the review copies, basically just telling the reviewers that if there is a problem with the components not to take it to a store, as that's not gonna help anything.

Games usually go through various builds before they go gold. This would just be one of those that's likely almost ready for the production line, but some features may still be absent/not working.

It'll still be interesting to see what's on there, just don't be disappointed if things are a bit different when the game goes live on the 20th.

Yeah, I know there are different builds, but both Wired and Kotaku got theirs today, and some other contacts of mine that write game reviews are getting theirs in. If these are review copies, it makes no sense for HMX to ship incomplete builds.

And really, it's just a matter of semantics between "retail" and "review" builds. The retail might have more complete packaging (although from the pics this looks pretty complete), but for all intents and purposes, unless HMX is ******ed (they're not) or sending copies out to magazines (which these aren't) these are the final builds arriving at sites internet wide.

I'm actually one of those guys that write game reviews, that's why I got in touch with HMX today, to see what was up. They actually didn't sound to happy about sending these out so early, but they said that those sites had a "hard deadline" to meet, so they got them what they had. However, the rest of us will be getting our copies when the game is actually completed, which should be 10-15 days.

I'll be sure to see if I can not any differences between the one I receive and the ones received by Kotaku and Wired. As you said, they should only be minor differences, but then again you never know.

Kotaku is just saying exactly what I would say if I was running a popular rumor blog.

My best friend's dad wrote for CGM a few years ago, so I've got a few marketing gold versions of games sitting around my place.

I'm not sure if the disc is a gold or a beta, or what the differences will be between the two. Perhaps this was hand packaged, not through the assembly line?

Wow, that statement out of context sounds completely different. What I meant was the rest of the general media will be receiving their copies of Rock Band in 10-15 days for review, not the general public. Sorry for the confusion.
