So I know those things mean virtually nothing at all, ( I believe they're determined based on users looking at the individual pages ) but that's a big margin. It amazes me that GH:WT is ahead of Rock Band 2, let alone that much. I'd assume it's because we don't know GH:WT's setlist, but we do know Rock Band 2's.

I'd chalk it up to brand name recognition.

Yeah. Lots of people don't even know what Rock Band is.

Wow damn good point.
That peeves me too because Rock Band 2 will <likely> be way better than GH:WT. Man do I want to see the RB2 vs. WT reviews. :)

Well (for the 360 at least) Rock Band is 9th, while GH is 15th on Gamespot (which is far better than IGN, in my opinion).
These numbers really mean nothing, especially to me since I'll probably be buying both games. Fighting over which game is better is just stupid.

Actually 41st is the game only, then 66th is the special edition.
Is IGN stupid?:p
EDIT: I agree with above and below posts.
Rock Band 2 Special Edition (PS3) 243rd.....
Rock Band 2 Special Edition (Wii) 959th.....

They'll both thrive well methinks. Despite fanboyism and exclusivity, GH:WT will do well for name recognition and hype, while Rock Band 2 will do well for lots of DLC and many core gamers will prefer this over GHWT.

Well, if you want to get technical, Logic is a subset of cheesecake that is a subset of cake. The hiearchy goes
Cake
l
Cheesecake
l
Logic
So he is right in saying that Logic is a type of cheesecake. He is not a moron.:p

Cheesecake is a kind of cake in the same way that it's a kind of cheese.
Well, not the exact same way, but it's neither cheese nor cake!
Just like strawberries are neither straws, nor berries!
If I recall.

I personally don't like cake - unless it's cheesecake, and I like pie, but pretty much only lemon meringue.... mmmmmmm..

choosing a platform early is essential though, especially if you assume further iterations of the franchise will be backward compatible.
rock band has pure brute content, and Im sure they will improve their features with rock band 3.

Don't know how IGN ranks games that aren't even out but the voters are putting RB ahead of GH almost 2 to 1. 53 to 31 percent.

RB2 is 32nd now, and GH4 is 7th.
I have a feeling that the fact that RB2 hasn't been announced very long might have slowed down its eventual rise to fame ;)

I just saw the GH gameplay of Hot For Teacher. Wow. It is Rock band with round notes.
I can't really believe that companies can basically steal design ideas like that and get away with it, but I guess it happens all the time - just look at all the FPS's out there.
Was HMX forced to part with the Guitar Hero trademark or did they just decide to sell it for big bucks? If they weren't forced to part with it due to the merger, I would think Rigopuolous (sp?) is wishing they would have kept the name around.
Back on topic guys
If you knew IGN, you'd know how anti-rock band they are. Gamespot does its ratings on crowd preference, not personal preference.

Yeah, I was with friends of my cousin recently. And they asked me if I knew how to play guitar. I was like.... Well, I know how to play Guitar Hero guitar. That made them chuckle. But then, I told them that I also played Rock Band. And they were like "what's that?".

The Guitar Hero intellectual property was owned by Red Octane. Activision bought Red Octane specifically so they could own the rights to Guitar Hero.

QFT!
Each game will have unique songs, so if you want every song available you'll get both. Otherwise you'll choose, and your choice will be different than a lot of peoples' and that's ok.

I'll get both if compatibility is true. No biggie.
