Rock Band's full track list numbers 58 hard rockin' tunes spanning five decades. But what will be open to you at the very beginning of the game? Here's what you and your friends can rock out to without playing through the Tour modes, first:
Beginner:
Say It Ain't So - Weezer
In Bloom - Nirvana
I Think I'm Paranoid - Garbage
Mississippi Queen - Mountain (cover song)
Here It Goes Again - OK Go
Apprentice:
Creep - Radiohead
Wave of Mutilation - Pixies
Should I Stay Or Should I Go - The Clash
Maps - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones
Mmm, Gimme Shelter right out the box!

you must unloke packs of 5 songs as you work your way through the solo career (depending on what instrument)

I am surprised, and honestly, disapointed that Blitzkrieg Bop isn't the first song.

Creep only in the second tier? The guitar during the falsetto part sounds really hard. I guess it evens out, since the other parts sound pretty easy.

I'm surprised Blitzkrieg Bop and Celebrity Skin aren't there. But I'll be damned if I didn't confess my love for Garbage.

aynone else notice that at the bottom of the screen it shows some of the setlist controls. if you press yellow then you can change the sorting of the songs. it must be that when looking at the setlist you can view by difficulty and other thing like time period etc. thats pretty cool.

Yeah, that is really weird. It's the first thing I noticed too. It would've made a good opening, "first song".
Right when you set the game up, you get pumped for it, you're sitting there with 3 other buddies, you select "Blitzkrieg Bop", then you all bounce around the room shouting the lyrics and jamming on the instruments. It would have been great... but no... instead we get that boring Weezer song...
Although it's really not that bad. I like "Say It Ain't So", actually, just would have rather have seen BB as the opener.

It's overplayed... but oddly that's probably why I'll play it. I had a dormmate in college who kept practicing Weezer over and over on his acoustic, and while it drive me frickin' NUTS... it sank in and now I get a vaguely nostalgic feeling hearing their stuff.
And logically speaking, it's a simple enough song to play / sing, so it's good for starting people off in the game with. The notes are distinct and clear, easy to see/hear simultaneously and "get" the way things work.

I'm not a huge Weezer fan, and I particularly dislike most of their newer albums, but I love Say It Ain't So. It was one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. Hell of fun to play and sing, should be a blast in the game.

Oh, come now. There are far worse bands/songs that they've put into Rock Band.
Like Freezepop. God, they suck. They're not even rock for God's sake!

lol yeah, Freezepop only get picked because 2/3 of them work for HMX, but i'm not saying that i don't like them (infact, they are one of my favorite pop bands). I just don't think they would be picked if it were any other company. Why doesn't anybody like Weezer on these boards? It seems like every topic on the song list has somebody crapping on Weezer. I just found it a weird, i thought the entire world LOVED Weezer lol. Anyway, i'm sure "Say It Ain't So" will be my first jam.

If they're sorting by difficulty, I'm surprised that Maps isn't in the FIRST tier.
I would think that playing the same two guitar notes over and over again, and mumbling the same three words over and over again would make that the EASIEST song...

Yeah, chaopolis, Maps is a great song, but incredibly simple. I don't even think that Nick uses a chord once in that song. It's all single notes. That's one I would definitely see as kind of the "I Love Rock and Roll" of Rock Band.

I think the challenge is going to be the single repeated note at the open and the close of the song. On Expert, that is going to be tough for rhythmically challenged dufuses like me. As for the rest of the song, I agree, but damn, what a great song.

Hey man. I consider that offensive to my inner Harmonix fanboy. Don't talk down about Freezepop.
