View Full Version : More Bands that are still Bands. No Has Been Wanted.

I think it is enough with the Classics and more of some current bands that are still together. Some more groups from 1991 and up. Really get some year 2000 bands in there also. How about Some Linkin Park , Korn , Staind , The Shins , Blink-182 , The Donnas , Incubus, The Offspring, Nofx, Tool, Mxpx, Placebo, White Stripes, RATM, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit , System of A down, ETC>>>.... I can probably go on forever, but I think my point is a across. Hell I know the rights to the songs are hard to get, but they really need some more of bands that still play.
Granted I still like a lot of the set list happy to see Stone Temple Pilots and Foo Fighters as well as Nirvana Dlc make its way. The song list to me at moment seems better then GH3 no matter what some people say. I would have thought been better to have a faster Weezer song, but still like it.

The reason is very simple.
This game has to appeal to a mass market. Most of the announced bands are well known to the casual gamer/music fan so it seems sensible when you're trying to launch a product to market to make it as appealing as possible.
If the game was full of the bands you mentioned, it would be less appealing to casual gamers with disposable income and would be the domain of kids and hardcore rock fans of all ages. This would mean less sales. Less sales = less reinvestment into the game. Less reinvestment = less DLC and no further rock band. Basic economics.
There's DLC remember. I'm sure your chosen bands will make an appearance there.

Yes really. Not everyone has to agree with me. I just would like to see this stuff.
Just as I'd love to see a game entirely made up of what you define as "has-beens". Let's face it, no one will fully agree with suggestions placed here, but don't be disrespectful of other people's music.
Those "has beens" paved the way for your crappy new music and have a lot more talent than any new band has ever shown. These were the trailblazers who invented Rock, Metal, Grunge, etc. All the bands you listed are merely poor shadows desperately attempting to be like the greats.
There, how do you like being talked down to?
In all seriousness, all of the bands you listed (except The Donnas (however, even they are just following in the footsteps of The Ramones, The Sex Pistols and The Clash)) have a considerable lack of talent and I really think should stay out of Rock Band. But that's just my opinion, take it as you will.

I think your getting this wrong I do not think has beens are not great and amazing, but in order for things to be mass it needs current. I think it needs way more of that then bands people never heard of. Time has changed so have people. Hearing some songs from the 80's good as they're are not always fun to enjoy. Also that they all have a lot of the same tone to them. Last mass audience needs something that is truthfully mass.

Yeah because no one has ever heard of The Who or The Rolling Stones. Good rock and roll never goes out of style.. Limp Bizkit definately does... and did.

Did you not read my post? Your bands are not mass. They are popular with kids/teens in the main. Kids/teens generally don't have the same disposable income to buy games like the 25+ market do. The 25+ market will prefer slightly older tracks .'. that's what the game consists of.
These guys do their market research before spending millions on a game. If their market research says the people most likely to buy this game want the bands you have mentioned, that's what would be on the disc.
Your opinion is valid. Target market research says your song choices aren't.

It is hard to say that 18-25 age group do not listen to those bands being when I go to a concert I see lots of that age group. I totally agree with what your saying also. Like I understand hell I love to here a classic, but that is were I am hoping Download content comes in. If I can get some DLC Korn I'll be so happy. Though I am really interested in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps. Also I would love to see Weezer album makes its way on the DLC list. Oh yeah last thing this is suppost to be my ultimate set list. I never really expected anyone to agree with me.

Wow are a lot of you guys really angry about this. Just cause I want a certain type of music does not mean everyone should have an outburst. If the bands I listed suck so bad they would not be around still and sold multi-platinum albums. Yeah maybe a few hasn't, but wtf. Just cause I say times changed so do peoples choice of music. Like I said this is my choice of music not a disscussion on why it all sucks. I am not going around saying the classic suck, but I think after all 4 guitar heros which had a good amount of the classic it is time for a new class. The music style doesn't seem to change enough for me.

1. Never assaulted your music (others did though, I know)
2. Horrible logic.
3. No such thing as multi-platinum albums
4. Most, if not all (I'm not going to bother checking) HAVE sold albums to the platinum level

3) People will buy any **** they see. Are you 14? only a 14 year old would say that because something is popular, it has to be good. 14 year olds and ***** ass emos who dont know about anything.

Why be upset? Because I take music seriously and it pisses me off that all these sorry excuses for musicians are making all this money pandering to the lowest common denominator. MTV and modern corporate radio stations are the salesmen of big label record industry monopolization. They tell you what to like, and you swallow every disgusting mouthful.

No body tells me what to like nor have I watched an mtv show in years to tell me what I like. I said style does change, I never said it doesn't. Also I been listening same bands all my life and they never changed for me yet. I am curious to know what bands makes you think that way which I've put on my list. A multi-platinum album btw an album that sold more then 2 million platinium twice=multi.

Linkin Park, Staind and Korn are the big culprits. But its not just about that! Its your whole attitude, your whole rationalization that JUST because its new, it has to be given a chance. Just because theres millions of morons that listen to Korn, that automatically makes them good?!!!
No, you said its all the same style. The bands in GH are not part of the same style.

That is not what I mean. I changed my title because it is harsh being they paved the way and created music people thought could never happen as well as made sounds people never thought of can come from these instruments. I have to give props to GH3 for putting Tom Morrello in their game he is #@##$# amazing to me with the guitar and my favorite guitarist. I really meant like I want some current and a smaller base of classics being I feel like those have been covered already in previous games. Also Korn been around since like 93 and Lp since 96. I am only 20 so yeah I skip a few years. These bands were in my prime age so I happened to be with them growing up and they show feeling to me. Doesn't mean I dont listen to The Cure , Black Sabbath, Iorn Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Skid Row , Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Lynard Skynyrd, Deep Purple , GnR, John Lennon, The Ramones and others. I just really want other stuff besides that stuff and I think that variety should be there in the game.
Nothing has to be given a chance, but certain stuff I would love to see for myself to play in my own game this list is suppost to be about me my preferences. These are bands I choose to like more then others. I am not saying put all Emo crap in my list that talks about the gf who dumped me until your head explodes I am not talking about that fad right now. Which bands like MCR, PanicDisco , FOB, stuff a long that lines Trust me I don't want to hear that stuff.
Overall I do think Rock Band did a good broad sense of music through the whole list. Maybe certain songs by bands I would exchange with other Smashing Pumpkis - Rat In A Cage. RedHotChilliPeppers - Soul To Squeeze.

They are STILL creating awesome music. Maybe not the Beatles, but
Maiden, Priest, Jon Oliva, Pearl Jam...And not just them, theres great REAL rock music coming out ALL the time. Its not really a question of new or old. Its a question of taste. If you can stand the bull**** Korn and Staind crap out....hey, good for you. Not good for you....but hey, if it does whatever to you, well, you can't make everyone see reason.
For the record, I cant stand the Ramones and GnR. In my country GnR is like the greatest thing and frankly, I dont see it. I hate Slash's guts. Cant stand that idiot.
And no, its not your game. Its Harmonix's game. In the end, we will get what they judge is good for THEIR game. Whats your is the copy you are gonna buy. That you can keep. We can all hope they see reason, but clearly Korn isnt it. Or that bald **** from Staind with his ***** acoustic guitar, which he has no ****ing idea how to play btw.

Although I disagree with 90% of the songs you listed (The Donnas!? What are you smoking? ), I think the White Stripes and SoaD would be fun as hell to play.
I mean, the White Stripes are made up of Jack White on guitar/vocals, and Meg on drums. Their set-up would be very easy to translate over to Rock Band.
System of a Down uses some keyboards and things, so the translation process might be a bit trickier. Also, Daron's vocals might be difficult for most people to reproduce. Still, the joy of playing Aerials or ATWA would make up for this, ten-fold.

There's this wave of thinking that bands just stopped making good rock and metal. WRONG! Just because you don't hear it on the radio or MTV doesn't mean it does not exist! Iron Maiden is still making records dude. They didn't pack up their gear after The Number Of The Beast album and say "well, we're classics now... Guess we'll all go retire to our mansions and stop playing great music." But how many times did you hear them on your local radio station for their new album? ****ING ZERO THATS HOW MANY! I heard ads for their concert but no actual music!
I'm not even going to go into how many great European metal bands there are that get absolutely no airplay here. I like a few metalcore bands from the states but overall the metal scene in America is ****ing depressing. The rap-metal bull**** that you love set us back a good ten years.

Projekt Revolution this year was crazy so I have to disagree. Also I think they had best selling rock album this year this far from what I know, but I could be wrong. So they must be doing something right.
Anybody here listen to "The Last DJ" by Tom Petty? That's exactly what radio and music is turning into. It's a farce anymore. Underground rock is staying true to it's roots and revolutionizing things, BUT all of the bands you listed are mainstream and are not doing anything new.
They're bastardizing rock and attempting to make it more accessible. You know what was great about the Classics (in blues, rock, punk and metal)? They didn't give a **** about what anybody thought of their music. They wrote not for commercial success (until some sold-out) but they wrote about things that mattered to them. Do you think that when Pete Townshend was so pissed off by the Queen of England towing his car that he wrote "My Generation" he was thinking "My, I think I've penned a #1 hit here!". Music is NOT about commercial success, it's about writing things that have some kind of significance ("2 Minutes To Midnight" by Iron Maiden, "Grinder" by Judas Priest, "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who, "London Calling" by The Clash, "Anarchy In The U.K." by The Sex Pistols, etc).
Of course, societal commentary is not the only valid form. There's love songs and the occassional write-off tune that artists write and record for the hell of it ("Boris The Spider" by The Who, "Squeeze Box" by The Who, "Aces High" by Iron Maiden, etc)
That's what Rock is about, writing valid statements (often from personal feelings and interests) and not pandering to the masses to ensure you got a hit. That's all mainstream music is today, pandering to the depressed teenagers or teeny boppers to get them to buy the music.
Look a little deeper into music and you'll see what makes a good song with feeling and what doesn't. Guarenteed Linkin Park doesn't.

Each band has its own feel and when I listen to Linkin park I hear something I like and something that connects with me. I wouldn't get goosebumps down my spine if that was true. Everyone has their own choice of music. For some reason with old classic I never get that feeling of emotion in anything. Once I feel that in me I know the song is as real as it gets. Also Want to add Gorillaz would be really awesome to see.
