I'm a newer member to the board, although I have been lurking around since the board was created. I was just wondering if/when Rock Band was going to incorporate double bass for the drums into the game.

Supposedly on the back of the RB2 stock kit there are plugs to plug in those optional cymbals as well as a plug for a 2nd bass pedal.
I saw about it in one of the E3 videos.
EDIT: I misunderstood the video I watched. The guy just said second pedal, not necessarily a second bass pedal. My bad.

Since you're new here, let me offer some advice. If you want people to answer your questions, have a better thread title. The title itself should indicate what you're asking about, so people who know or care about that will open your thread. Example:
"Does RB2 have an option for double bass pedals?" or something like that.

That's close, but not quite accurate. The explanation at E3 said that there was a plug for a "2nd pedal", NOT a "2nd bass pedal".
That's a very important distinction to make, and I really don't want people to start going "OMG They promised us a 2nd kick pedal at E3...WHERE IS IT HMX LIARZ!"
We don't know yet whether that 2nd pedal will be for kick drum or for hi-hat control.

I swear when watching it I heard "double bass" sometime in the statement.
Granted, I didn't may much attention to actual words because I was imagining playing Silver with a double bass pedal. I think RB's charts are made with a single pedal in mind, in which case something like a hi-hat pedal would be pretty cool. My only problem is that I think that might over-complicate things...
..but I guess it's optional right?
My friend has a worthless PS2 pedal, he doesn't like Rock Band. So if it'll work I'll probably just steal that from him (hell... I'm using his mic).

Your'e right. I went and rewatched the video and he did just say second pedal, I could have sworn he said bass in front of it but i guess i was mistaken. The only other pedal there could be would be a hi-hat pedal right? But how would that work exactly?

Well, my hope is that it's a hi-hat cymbal, as that would round out the total drum set experience. With the pedal pushed down, the hi-hat cymbal would be yellow. Raise it up, and the hi-hat cymbal turns blue for the open hi-hat notes in songs.
Or, it could be used to change the hi-hat cymbal from yellow to red for songs like RttH, Orange Crush, etc.

this would make the drum jam along and drum fills even better if this happened.
I would rather have a high-hat pedal than a bass pedal. there isn't one song int eh game that needs a 2nd bass pedal. if they made you need one, that would be cheap. it would be like them saying, oh yeah, you can play the guitar, but you have to buy the whammy bar to get more points.
high-hat pedal. ftw.
the first song I'm playing in drum trainer is gonna be Rush!

First off, sorry that the title wasn't accurate. I am used to getting flamed for asking a question that has been asked fifty times and not searching, not getting flamed for the wrong title.
Nevertheless, I wondered the same thing about the E3 video and could not come to a conclusion. There have been a few songs in RB that have needed double bass, but it was not available so it was not charted. By looking at the RB2 setlist, I see a great need for double bass e.g. Almost Easy and Panic Attack (which IMO will blow without double bass as any DT song would).
Although the hi-hat pedal would be sweet to remove those pesky blue note hi-hat parts and when playing two handed hi-hat patterns, I would love to have double bass considering I use a great deal of it in real life.

I believe the ION kit will incorporate said pedalling.

Not saying the game will be charted for it but it's a start
All-metal kick drum pedal.
The kick drum pedal with any drum controller takes a lot of abuse. No need to worry with Drum Rocker – this pedal is all metal and built to last! It's also got the right amount of tension to replicate the feeling of playing a real drum pedal, and we're even building an accessory pedal to allow for double-pedal setups.
The pedal comes with Velcro and retractable spikes, so you can be sure it will stay put. You're not limited to where you place it either – put the kick pedal wherever you feel most comfortable playing it.

That's exactly what I said before. Both there and in the E3 video demonstration, nowhere did either of them say double KICK pedals.
"double-pedal" just means 2 pedals. Could still be 1 kick and 1 hi-hat.
