Foo fighters:
All my life
The pretender
This is a call
Velvet revolver:
She builds quick machines
Slither
Messages
Boss battles:
Slash battle
Tom morello battle
The devil went down to georgia
I have and will continue to enjoy Guitar Hero III until Rock Band's release, however I can't help but to think "damn why can't these be released for Rock Band instead!" :D
I would really like to see 'All my life' and 'The Pretender' for Rock Band. I think they fit the Rock Band platform better than the Guitar Hero one anyway.
Either way, good news for Guitar Hero fans! :)

The pretender? Foo's "sorta" new song? Jesus man... Now I'm wanting to kick myself in the nuts for waiting for the PC version :(

Watch out for an epic level backlash of fans if they're charging for DLC on boss songs that people already have on the game disc. As much as anyone likes DLC, they're not going to like re-buying something they already have.

QFT.
The Boss Battles are cool and they would make me pay again for 'em? That would be some insane BS.
And there's not a price yet. I'm really hoping that they can come down to earth and make it 400 points. That would be reasonable. 500 is just too much, plus 1600 isn't divisible by 500.

I'd buy the first two packs.

Bah, nothing here that makes me want to run out and buy the game. The Foo Fighters are alright, but i only like some of their stuff. Slash hasn't written anything truly great since leaving GnR and thus the Velvet Revolver stuff doesn't impress me. And finally..... You have to pay to get songs on the disc to play outside of solo career?! WTF?! That is easily the most bs piece of crap I have ever heard of. What's next? Offering the co-op career encores for download?
Shame on you Red Octane/Activision!

The boss battle DLC is so you can play the boss battle without battling.... which would be a nice thing to have.
Especially because I would like to play TDWDTG without getting owned.

I'll buy the FF and VR tracks. Won't pay for the boss battles, if I want to play them, I'll just boss battle even though I think it's ***.
I wonder if there is a date on these releases, I need to find a cheap place to get MS Points...

That's why I'm saying it's idiotic. How hard would it have been to implement this on the disc? Instead you're being forced to pay for songs you already have. We're not talking the GH1 to GH2 360 thing here. We're talking about charging you for songs that are already on the disc and should have been implemented into single player in the first place.

I like the Foo Fighters, but I'm not very sure about the song choice, I like This is a Call, but I never really liked All My Life, and I thought the Pretender was just a copy of it... I guess they'd probably be fun to play though...
the other two, I wouldn't even consider...

I want Slither but I'm not sure it will be worth 7 dollars, and I'm sure Neversoft will manage to make the note chart un-musical and uncomfortable.
I guess that means the commercial wasn't false advertisement though.

Yeah, total BS.
As much as I like the FFs, I don't listen to them because of their guitar parts. I'm also not going to be getting GH3 for a next gen system, so that alright I guess.

DLC for Guitar Hero is already a seriously ugly sore spot for a huge number of us after Harmonix and RO split. If they are going to keep charging ridiculous prices for bundles of songs that contain some we don't want, it won't go over well.
However, we'll probably see the same thing that happened last time, a lot of people will buy it and a lot of people will scream bloody murder...that's sorta what happens on these internets =/

To be honest, I would probably pay to play those battle songs. I hope all these packs, regardless of price, come out soon.

I think the same thing when Harmonix has been talking about the Who's Next album for five months. They easily could have included this onto the game disc. They had plenty of time.
But instead we have to pay for it.... a week after release. I dislike that. It's all about the $$$.

Thats ******ed. No offense to you but for a band to have 10 songs on a game and no other band to have more than one is stupid.
Of course they are going to release an album by itself no one would be stupid enough to put an entire album on a game. That's a very poor comparison.
That being said, I wouldn't mind buying the boss battle songs for a DISCOUNTED price. If they charge the same price that is just ludicrous.

The Foo Fighters Pack is mine, I just wish it had Hey Johnny Park on it.
Theres no way i'm paying for songs that are already on the disc however.

I'm not sure how a band having ten songs on a disc qualifies as "stupid".
To me it qualifies as more songs to play without having to spend extra cash.
Poor comparison? Both companies are charging for content that could have easily been put on the retail disc.

It does qualify as "stupid." Why would a company put 10 songs from one artist on a game disc, just because they have them lying around? They would have to call it Rock Band: The Who Edition, and people who aren't fans of The Who will be turned off from the game because they don't want to have to be forced to buy more Who material than they can stand.
But see, here is the point, the songs are already on the GH3 disk. The boss battles are anyway and thats what people are complaining about. Why do they have to pay for a song twice? It would only be fair at a discounted price.
It is unfair to put more than one song by an artist on a game disk because you are alienating fans who don't like that band or who do like that band and are saying "we think this band is better than all the other ones so we gave them more songs." Not to mention to add these 9 or 10 songs I forgot exactly how many are on "Who's Next" would drive up the cost of Rock Band a little, which I think we can agree we all don't want.
Also if you don't like the DLC don't buy it. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything. Thats the beauty of DLC. You are going to pay for it one way or another. Whether it was "stupidly" put on a disk or in the form of DLC, a person has to pay for it.

Yeah you know the one complaint I keep hearing is that there are too many songs on the game disc....
I don't think anyone would complain if they gave us an entire album for free. They obviously wouldn't be on the main setlist.
DLC should have a new name...."Lets see how much we can charge for stuff that we could have added to the game".
Seriously look at all the recent games... DLC is being worked on months before release. Spend $60 then $10 the next month for a couple of maps doesn't seem as bad as spending $170 then spending $1- a week after release.
I think that is stupid.

Except for the guys at Harmonix, because they wouldn't have money to feed their children.
You realize that DLC for GH and RB costs a LOT more to make than just your average map pack. Take the cost to make a map pack, then add the cost to license the music.
Now if The Who said "Take all of our music for free, we don't feel like being fairly compensated for content we have created" then yes, the album should come already on the disc. They didn't.
This is why they didn't put a full Who (or anyone) album on the disc: people who don't like the Who would end up paying for it. I know nobody like paying for stuff, but that's the way capitalism works: if you make a product you get compensated based on what the market is willing to pay. Don't like it, don't pay. Somebody else might, though, and that's the market at work. So that's just the way that things are.
Of course, if you could only play The Who in a specific BWT playlist and had to pay to play it in quickplay, that would be bull****. That's why nobody wants to pay for the boss battles.

lol you think it takes the same amount of money to create 5 songs that is does to create 5 maps BEFORE the licensing? Come on now.
I understand why people are upset about the GHIII DLC... I am explaining why I am upset at being charged for content that could have been included on the disc... without us having to pay more. One could argue that it would have cost Neversoft more to include the boss battles in quickplay or online... reworking the songs for two players, taking out the power ups and putting in star power. So should they just give it to us for free? Either way it costs money.
Somehow I doubt either Harmonix or Neversoft would be hurting if they gave us some free DLC.
I love the replies though. You seem like you want to pay extra.

No, but my understanding is that the licensing for DLC is on a per-song basis. This means that the bulk of the cost per song doesn't get subsidized by selling more songs. This means that selling 1 million songs costs them 1 million times more in licensing.
For a map pack, the only repeating cost for every download is the bandwidth, which is almost negligible.
What this means is that with a map-pack, you can give it away for free once you make back your original investment. With DLC songs, you would bleed money out the arse on licensing if you tried to give away a song for free. Unless they license a forward-thinking band/label who feels a free download would be great marketing, free DLC would not happen.

Any idea of when these songs will actually be released? I'm super excited for some Foo Fighters. I'm very upset that these boss battles have to be purchased, they should be a free update if anything. Since Neversoft didn't have the foresight to make them playable in the first place!
