Listen to the entire song, John does a great job with his chord structure, and his solo's have so much emotion and feeling in them, you can actually see in your head his emotions on his face and the pain/siffering/pride/joy his actually feeling

As much as you'll probably get flamed, I'd agree with you. Great vocals, insane guitar riffs. I would pick some different songs though like Neon, that song would be insane. Crazy pickin on that tune.

Wow. I just heard his cover of Little Wing and sans vocals I thought it was pretty damn good. He's no Hendrix but he sure can shred a guitar. I think his Trio material would be better suited (it's more blues compared to his poppy stuff). I said it before I'll say it again, he's a poor man's SRV. He can always just drop the singing.

I agree completely with getting Mayer in Rock Band. I sent a request for "Covered in Rain", that song's solo will make even the most hardcore hater of John Mayer put up with the song (and probably have fun playing it).

A lot of the songs you suggest wouldn't work well with Rock Band, like St. Patricks day...its acoustic so half the people in the room would have nothing to do. But I totally agree with the guy above me, "Good Love Is On The Way" would be a fun, upbeat song and a great addition to the DLC.

This game doesn't have enough bluesy sound, (or any really). I think adding a great Mayer song like "Covered in Rain" will do for Rock Band what "Texas Flood" did for Guitar Hero 1.

He clearly isn't "hard", but anyone who says John Mayer isn't rock doesn't know what rock is. I don't really care for the bulk of his songs, but the guy is a great musician. Neon would be a good choice. No Such Thing would be a great sing a long.


People need to realize that some music would simply be fun to play. Stop trying to impress everyone and just listen to music for what it is.

You may hate the man, but many more people love him. His albums have all peaked in the top 10, and he is a Grammy-winning artist.

But aside from the fact that adding Mayer would help Rock Band commercially (lots of fans, lots of DLC purchases), it also would help from a music standpoint. Adding Mayer would provide a new sound to the game, because the current setlist NEEDS some blues-sounding tracks.

Wow! That's a pretty vehement rebuttal. For a player with such strong passion against a single artist, I'd think you'd have posted more than 7 times in other threads about the songs you do like. I don't think any one artist will win with every player, and I personally think John Mayer is one of the best musicians of this decade.

Based on the record labels, music stores, and Grammy awards officials he's classified as "Rock", so I think you've been over ruled on that topic, and I think he's got several songs that would fit well in this game and provide challenging options for every RB instrument.

Mayer does belong in this game. His band is incredible, some of the best musicians that I've seen. While his music may not fit into a typical "rock" genre his music still rocks. IMO John is one of the best guitarists of our time. I would love to see "Vultures," "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room," and "No Such Thing"

Songs from the John Mayer Trio album would be ideal, but that was a live album, so they'd probably have to be covered. Anyway, I'd go with

Anything from "TRY!" is amazing. Pino Pallodino and Steve Jordon nake John's sound even better. My personal favorite is the song "Try", though his cover of "I've Got A Woman" is also phenominal.

We must think about this from a marketing standpoint, we simpley can't throw out our favorite songs and pray they make to DLC. Personally if any John Mayer song was available I'd be excited.

But if we are thinking about this from a marketing standpoint lets look back at which songs have been popular for John Mayer. Probablly his most famous song is one of his newest "Waiting on The World To Change" after that prolly "Daughters" after that its kind of hit or miss, sure "Wonderland" had some radio play, but not everyone liked that song. I'd say from a convincing point of view-

Has he actually ever said anything? I've been a fan of his for a while and I get the sense that he isn't a fan of the games, I've never seen him actually mention anything.

Maybe now that we have his musical idol, he'd be more apt to give the games a second look, but I doubt it. :(

I could dig some of his tunes, not a huge fan... but from what I've heard he is talented. Only one song of his so far that I really didn't like... I heard his cover of "Free Fallin" a couple of days ago in Lowe's, he butchered that song imo. Tom Petty should kick his @$$ for wrecking that song.

John Mayer Trio songs just HAVE to become DLC. No one can argue that the songs will be hard for all instruments (don't know about singing) so everyone who wants a challenge or just likes the songs will download them. Especially 'Who do you think I was', 'Try!', 'Wait untill tomorrow (Jimi)' and 'Good love is on the way' should be in there, those songs are too cool and have the best (guitar) solo's ever!
