I was looking at the Kotaku pictures of the kit, and I was struck by something...
Normally, the drums are /--\, but if you flip the drum kit around, the Red & Green pads are at the top like \__/.
Would that make it a little more "realistic" with the cymbals being higher on the kit?
Or am I just being weird?

No, because the left most pad is the snare.
BUT, there is a lefty flip option in the game. So you don't actually have to flip the drums around. But it will reverse the commands of the pads to suit lefties.

It was my understanding that a left handed person had the exact same drum setup as a right handed person. When you play the drums, you are basically playing as if you were ambidextrous.
And about the cymbals. I think that the drum set in rock band is supposed to represent snare, riding toms, and a floor tom (maybe ride cymbal?), but of course that leaves out cymbals so you play them on there too.
Basically, I don't think that you will find lefty flip necessary.

That's what I thought, too, but my drummer friend told me I was stupid for thinking that and it's not right. So I guess we're both just being weird.

Some drummers play the kit reversed, so their left hand plays the hi-hat and right hand plays snare. It's all personal preference.

The Lefty Mode division at HMX has grown over the last year...
We've always tried to cater towards the lefty Guitar players out there and you'll be getting the same backing commitment when you fire up the Drums on Day 01.
Cheers :)

but the setup is still the same, right handed drummers will usually play snare with their left and the hh with their right, lefties will usually just switch hands that they play with, but the positioning is still the same, thus no change would be needed with lefty flip.
Just uncross those arms :D

Just uncross those arms :DActually, many left handed drummers do actually flip their set and play with their hi-hat on the right.

Actually, many left handed drummers do actually flip their set and play with their hi-hat on the right.
Oh? Never seen that, myself. How does that work for double bass pedals? Don't those always have the extra pedal over on the left? I haven't bought a double pedal yet, so I don't know if they have like some way that you could reverse everything on it so that it could attach to the other side.
