3. Nicko McBrian - Iron Maiden
4. Jimmy Chamberlain - Smashing Pumpkins
5. Stewart Copeland - The Police
Almost: David Lovering - Pixies, all because of Silver
GUITAR
1. Kirk Hammett, Metallica
2. Tony Iommi, Black Sabbath
3. Keith Richards, The Rolling Stones
4. Alex Lifeson, Rush
5. Hughie Thomasson, The Outlaws
Almost: Freezepop guitarist. Oh wait, there is none.

1. John Entwistle, The Who
2. Flea, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Notice how every The Who band member is ranked in the top 5.
I honestly don't understand how you can pick a top 5 on bass without having Geddy Lee. Maybe it's just my opinion...

Or Les Claypool for that matter. I dont think a single person can even be qualified to make valid top 5 lists for every kind of instrument. Being schooled in the skill levels of all the top players of every kind of instrument is just too much to know unless youre a professional music analyst or something...

FYI - One person got it, but Nicko McBrain was NOT the drummer for Run to the Hills or The Number of the Beast. That was Clive Burr. Nicko joined Iron Maiden after NOTB.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned Brian May, the greatest guitarist that has ever lived. I mean, he's not the most technical player, but his solos are memorable and beautiful.
Also, f**k you guys for putting Keith Moon above Neil Peart. I know that the Who DLC was just released, so everyone's impressed by "Young Man Blues," but wait for "The Trees" or, if it ever makes it, "Subdivisions."

I love both drummers. Not intamitely, of course. But I just love Keith Moon's drumming style more than Neil's is all. And Brian May is not eligible to be on this list, considering Queen isn't in the game.

Now that dream theater is on rockband 2 i will say that Portnoy is #2 behind Neil Peart. (for craps sake the guy plays a xylophone while he drums how sick is that.....)
