I've allready preordered and paid for the game at gamestop (charged on CC). I was wondering just incase in walk into walmart before the release date and actually do see the full version, how much arguing with my local gamestop do you think it would take to cancel my preorder and get the charge taken off of my credit card?

I would imagine none..... Just tell them you changed your mind.

don't quote me or anything, but i would think that you could just cancel it and have it fully refunded, but if they won't let you then ***** them out. If that doesn't work then pick it up on NOV 20 and then return it the same day. EBgames or gamestop can be jerkish sometimes

It's as hard as walking into the store and giving them the preorder receipt and saying you want to cancel the order.

yea, they don't care.

I had Guitar Hero 3 reserved at one Gamestop...found out they weren't doing a midnight release...so I canceled it...

and reserved it at the gamestop that was doing a midnight release.

I just took the 5$ I had on GH3 and told them to move it to another reserve I had (Assassin's Creed) but I'm sure they'll give you your 25$ for Rock Band back.

Also, you won't see the retail bundle at Wal-Mart early anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

They don't enjoy doing it but they shouldn't hassle you about it. Cancelling reserves hurts their numbers, but they have to do it for you anyway. If you want to be really nice to them, put five bucks onto a different game instead. Either way they'll give you your money back. You'll be more likely to get it in cash than back than on your credit card though, since you never technicaly made a purchase, just a deposit.

walmart ps3 edition is also a demo. from CAG forum:

All right, to end this once and for all, the package I bought from Walmart is indeed a demo. The very first thing I found when I opened the box was a packet of papers that says
"Dear WalMart Store Manager:
Enclosed in this Rock Band demo kit are the following items:
PS3 demo software
Drum kit with stand
Guitar controller
Demo set-up instructions
These items should be installed on the PS3 end cap in the Christmas Shop per the instructions from your merchandising team.

Turn up the volume and rock on!"

The rest of the packet contains instructions for setting up.
Inside the box was the game in a crappy little paper sleeve, and it came with two smaller boxes containing a wired guitar (note that I bought a PS3 version, so this is probably to prevent people from stealing the guitar from the store) and a drum set. No sign of a microphone, just like the post on the Rockband forums mentioned. I'm kind of hesitant to open up either box, because I don't know if Walmart would still let me return this. Does anyone have any idea if I could just wait until November 20th and bring this to Walmart, claiming that it's defective, and then getting a new, real copy? Even if it's a demo, I still want to try it out before returning it, but I'm afraid if they won't allow me.

***im curious about the wired guitar. i wonder if that will be produced, or specially made for the demos.

I do believe that the spotted boxes are demos, but I don't believe that this guy really bought one. He seems to spot his story with little details that will hopefully make it sound believable, but I'm wondering how he purchased it at Wal-Mart (even if the UPC scanned, wouldn't the register stop him?), but also, I'm surprised that there would be a letter addressed to Wal-Mart, telling them when/where to set it up. Who knows.

It's been confirmed by hmxsean that some stores have accidently sold the demos.
