i think i saw a video where they were buying new guitars and drums, but i can't remember. Judging from past games, yes.

That would be cool if buying upgraded drums/guitars would give you some game changing dynamics -- to wit: different "screw up" sounds on those inevitable missed notes; maybe bigger notes/ less forgiving note detection; easier voice detection on those hard to sing female vocal songs (although maybe the "too tight pants" upgrade might be more appropo). Probably a tall order, but something cool to think about.
