So I think I read somewhere that the 360 will have ports in the instruments to plug in the standard 360 headset, but I`m wondernig if the PS3 will have the same? They`re supposed to be identical in all regards except the logo of the 360/PS3 button, but as the PS3 has no standard headset...
I only ask because I have both systems and can`t decide which one to get. I preordered the PS3 bundle from amazon, as I live in Japan and need to be assured of region-free goodness (my parents will ship it to me from the US), but I want to be able to talk with people to set up games and whatnot. And NO, I`m decidedly not interested in using the Jabra headset from Warhawk -- damn thing won`t fit in my ear. So bluetooth isn`t really an option.
Would appreciate any info you guys have.

Well, there's your problem. It's not supposed to go in your ear. J/K
I don't think the PS3 is getting anything special. I guess the trade off for wireless* guitars is that the 360 gets to plug a headset into their controllers, and get a USB hub.
What about just getting a cheap over-the-ear headset, like the ones that came with SOCOM all those years ago?
*wireless with a dongle, despite what people may say, is still wireless

Well having a USB headset that has to plug into the system (versus the controller) defeats the purpose of having a wireless controller, does it not?
I guess not many people here have played the PS3 version to find out, huh?

Did you know that any Bluetooth headset will work for the PS3?There is no need for ports in any PS3 instruments!

That is true, but I figured if its something you would only use to chat with people in between rounds or whatnot, that taking a few steps over to the console to talk wouldn't be too much. It's not ideal, but it'd work.

I have a 360 as well. I know you're being sarcastic, but still, it doesn't apply to me.

You also didn't read my entire post.
Another concern I have about the PS3 version is that not everyone has a mic, so it is indeed eerily quite while you're playing multiplayer games. Warhawk is still a good example, despite the retail version coming with a mic -- people still don't talk much.

I'm going to say I doubt that there is a spot on the controller. Like you said, since there is no universal speaking device that comes with the system or anything I doubt they would go to the trouble to put something on the guitar.
The 360 guitar has a spot to plug in the headset. Guitar/headset combination will plug into USB hub. I'm not sure if there is a spot on the drums or not. Someone else may have to chime in on that.
I really doubt that there would be a spot on the PS3 set, basically is what I'm trying to say. :D

Maybe I don't get what you're trying to say!But here is what your options are!
1)You can buy a blue tooth (wireless)
2)You can buy a wired one
There are tones of people with Ps3 that have headsets, just play any EA sport game and you'll see .Open mic!
