Since I don't really like power metal, Slipknot wins by default. I also find a lot of "shredders" are really boring (to me) from a musical standpoint - Herman and Sam included, although DF's drummer sounds pretty good.

I actually like Slipknot, and they bring about a great live show. DF, not so much.

Studio: Dragonforce is much better. I actually somewhat enjoy listening to their studio recordings. Slipknot is just... no. I'd much rather listen to other, better metal bands.

Live- I've never heard Slipknot live. However, I know they rely on those gimmicky masks. Though I won't judge.

No, the gimmicky masks are just for fun. Live, they rely on their incredible energy and improvised guitar solos at times.

Well, don't forget to have some guy with you JUST for the sake of doing backflips and stuff off stage, of course.
Then you MIGHT get close to the purely EUPHORICAL effect that the REAL slipknot has.

Well, for bridges and whatnot, they occasionally do guitar solos live, like in the songs Left Behind or Pulse of the Maggots. Their album coming out has solos, though. I'm seeing them this Sunday, so I'll know then.

ITT: People who heard one or two of Slipknot's songs and assumed that they were something that they're not based off of those songs and then decided that the Pro-Tools Power Metal band is better than said band with the excuse that nobody has heard of them before a certain game we all love to hate.

Actually, GH is the root of a lot of the Dragonforce hate.

Slipknot, Dragonforce can sound the same for 3 CD's but not sound completely terrible doing it. But, Slipknot sounds like **** in and out of the studio.
