How is the cover? In you opinion is it as good as the the original, or is it worse.. I really want to know, I have been hoping they didn't mess the song's vocals ever since I heard this was a cover.. But HMX does do good vocal covers.. Soo.. good or bad?

You can kind of hear it in the background and it sounds pretty good

well, since im not a huge rush fan, I don't really know if its a good cover or not, to me it sounded like geddy, but then again, I'm not a rush fanatic, so I don't really know.

All i know is that the drums are insanely fun, especially on expert.

Ah good, from what I can hear the vocal part sounds good. Sweet. The drums look fun based on seeing what little we can past this guys head. LOL at the guitar solo at the end.. that looked epic.

You can clearly tell it's not Geddy, but not in a "OMG! My ears! They burn!" way, it's just noticeable, but I'd not say enough so to really be a problem. So will you notice it's a cover? Yep. Will you likely be bothered by it? I'd think not.

And the guitar and drum lines sounded spot-on from what I could remember. And the drums... Ohhh... the drums... Go find a demo since now's your chance to enjoy playing it on hard or expert since once you're trying that with the bass pedal, I think pain and suffering are what await the non-drummers in the crowd. 5*'d hard and 4*'d expert and I've never touched a real drumset before, but compared to when I played it earlier with the kick pedal on medium... Well, let's just say they have special programs for challenged folks like me. Hugs all around! :)

I am a huge Rush fan, and it was HORRENDOUS!!! Well, I guess I'm eggagerating, but it wasn't at all that good. Singing-wise anyway. I really liked XYZ on GHII, but even with the crappy vocals, it's more exciting because it's Tom Sawyer.

Hehe.

I wish best buy would actually put the demo in here.

EDIT: Damnit, ninja'd.

im not a rush fan but it wasn't bad. Not nearly as bad as the queen cover in GH1, now that was bad

Ditto. A cover of a legendary band will never be as good, but this was still pretty good.

Irony? You decide. :p

HILARIOUS!!!

hahah XYZ? nice

Im a Rush fan, and honestly its not bad, you can tell its not him, but when you have someone else singing when you play, it won't matter anyway.

Well actually... you can't hear you lead singer sing if you are playing over the net... they did that for lag reasons.. It's a blurse..

From what I heard, it was decent, and this is coming from a huge Rush fan and skeptic of the cover.

Though I wasn't really paying attention, I was too busy playing (failing) the drums. I intend to go back, so I'll pay attention then.

Why lol, did you hit the guide button when you were playing drums? :D

Seriously, though, you wouldn't be the first. I haven't played the drums yet, but it seems like the guide button would be really easy to hit while swingin' those sticks around...

I thought it sounded pretty good, definitely one of the better covers compared to any of the previous games. My friend who is a big Rush fan even admitted it was decent.

I could tell, but yeah, it's not going to cause a mass suicide of Rush fans, like lots of others have said

It sounded as close as a non-Geddy person can get.

the worst was Rage against the machine in GH2...that almost made me puke!

Yep, when you're playing a charted fill on a song you don't know, the flailing commences. I actually find it pretty funny in a "wow, do I suck" way when it happens.

I played it once on guitar, and I was too caught up in the fun of the moment to notice, which I guess means it wasn't distractingly bad.

I drummed it once on Easy, and didn't pay a lot of attention to the singer, beyond a general impression of "acceptable"-ness.

I feel like a ****** when I'm drumming. Sometimes it's fine and I can keep up with no problems, and then Tom Sawyer happens, and even on Easy there are some non-trivial sections... and suddenly I'm a ****** flailing my limbs, disobeying every mental instruction.

Just wait till you get the kick pedal tossed into the mix. I'm no longer quite as big of a freak with just the two sticks, but I shudder at the memories of the spastic freak I became when you make me try to do something with my foot in a different rhythm than my hands. Seems that my left hand and right foot are connected since they seem to want to go together and when they do operate independantly, it's usually the wrong one going...

We need to start a "special" club up for the uncoordinated non-drummers in the group. :)

I played Tom Sawyer today at Best Buy (playing RB for the first time... it's AWESOME! :D I LOVE IT! SO much better than GH III!) and I think the voice sounded fairly close to Geddy. I mean, they could have gotten someone better, but I'll take what I can get. The thing that bothers me the most is that it wasn't Neil Peart on the drums...

THe cover is good.

I really liked the cover. It is not the original of course, but it was more than passable. I was particulary worried that the chorus would be distracting, but I had no problems with it.

I'm know that I'm a better imitation that the guys at Wavegroup
