I've seen it mentioned a few times that using the cymbals at the correct time in Rock Band 2 will net a few bonus points. Aside from the forums, I saw it on this Popular Mechanics article, (http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/reviews/4273871.html) but I wasn't able to find any official statements on this. HMX? Anyone with links to an official statement?

Interesting. If that's true, that could answer the question of, "How do you know if a note is a tom or a cymbal before you hit?" Bonus points is cool.

Someone pointed out that cymbals are already charted for the in-game drummer to play, so the information's (probably) already there.

bonus points are stupid, because it means you have to buy cymbals for more points.

Seems unlikely if the cymbals just replicate the action of the pads...

I would hope this turns out to be false, because it creates an unlevel playing field for those who don't purchase the optional drum components.

My thoughts exactly, that's why I'm looking for the yea or nay from HMX.

i think this would only be a fair option if the cymbals are unique inputs and hitting them at the approriate note is mandatory. meaning if you don't hit the cymbal when it is required you break your streak. This would add a level of difficulty worthy of extra bonus points. of course it would also require a new method of charting which is discussed in about a million other threads already.

This would still result in paying for more points, which Harmonix has shown themselves to be against by not counting DLC scores into career scores.

my thoughts exactly. would give people more reason to buy them but at the same time youd be buying better scores
