Anyone else feel like the guitar just doesn't work correctly? I mean I had to strum up and down super hard just to get it to register it felt really slow and unresponsive and it wasn't lag, I hate to compare it with guitar hero but I kinda wish it was easier to strum like in guitar hero.. and the drums I felt like I had to bang the hell out of them just to get it to respond correctly, I hope its not like this in the retail.. but overall I had a blast with the drums, I played for like 3 hours today with random people lol.

On constantly, take alot of wear, little kids. So thats a no. From what I've heard the drum pads are EXTREMELY sensitive and can pick up a little tap or take a beating.

yeah its been said that the demo instruments are beaten up and a lil flimsy
i would guarentee them to be awesome by the time you get the game!!!

Hmm, I wonder how long my best buy has had it then, because the guitar was terribly stiff/sticky. It was incredibly hard to play seemed it would only work with up-strumming but not down and I had to bang on the drums light taps wouldn't work. I will for sure still buy the game though thats for sure.

That's how the one near me was. You could pretty much only strum up. And that's after a day of being on display. If a guitar can't handle 12 hours of off and on use at Best Buy, how's it supposed to survive 500+ hours in our homes? Ugh.

That's how the strum bar is, and yes, for a digital input it is ******ed. I'm going to swap it with a clicky bar on day 1.

having to tear apart the guitar just to get it to work the way we want is kind of crazy... getting used to the fret buttons was weird too was hard to tell if my fingers were sliding to the right buttons seeing how they are all flat together unlike guitar hero controllers.

...or maybe it's the opposite? Maybe because they're new, they haven't been broken in yet, so the buttons/bars are stiff?

personally, I'm not sure what game you guys were playing, but the strat I played for Rock Band was perfect. The strumming was extremely easy to do and it was very accurate up or down strumming. After 2 songs or so, the fret buttons felt just fine and wasn't difficult to keep my place at all.
I've played guitar hero with the original sg's since '05, so I don't believe that just because it's slightly different means it's a bad guitar controller or it sucks because someone's used to the sg.
Like it's been said a million times in the last day or 2, other people have no respect for property that isn't theirs. I've seen DS's and PSP's on display in stores where the screens are scratched to hell and the case is cracked, buttons are jammed in. Do not base the quality of the guitar on a demo you try out in a store. Come on, give HMX SomE credit, they only created GH, they aren't going to sell us something that sucks.

I played a demo tonight right after it was set up, so no abuse yet. I love the fret buttons, and the strum worked fine. I like the no click, but the strum bar did feel very fragile to me. Maybe it's just because it was so thin, but I felt like I'd break it if I wasn't careful.

i had the same problem. I had to push the strum bar down super hard to get it to register. I hope the game isnt like that either or it is more les paul for me...

Do the bottom fret buttons seems too close together? It seemed to me that my 4 fingers covered all 5 frets and then some. If i am going to use them i am going to have to be super percise. I guess that is what they want?

Yeah I don't think it's a coincidence that the lower fret keys are smaller and closer together, that's how it works doesn't it?
To the guys having trouble getting the strums to register, you must've been playing on ones that were already broken (as I've read MANY people have done in a short time), because the one I played today was fan-freaking-tastic. It took hardly any effort to strum it down. The drums were also more sensitive than I realized at first. I was wailing on them hard, then found out I only had to tap them. The only problem I had, was that the guitar I was using actually had a click right in the middle, so if I strummed down to up or up to down, it'd click/stick sometimes.

I played on the very first tour date for Rock Band--the one held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Absolutely hated the strum bar. And the fret buttons, too. It's like typing on those old keyboards where you can't feel the click. Or having to press a lot of buttons fast on a pressure-sensitive touch screen that's 10 years old. I guess that compensates for the simplicity of the guitar parts.
Also, I've come across a plethora of worn-out guitar hero guitars, and none of them really felt more worn-out than the next one. The GH guitars at my local BB have been there since forever, and they still respond to perfection.
And yesterday, i finally tried out my friend's new Les Paul for the Wii. That strum bar is absolutely amazing. I can hit straight 16th notes like charm.
I'm not buying the guitar hero package when it comes out. There's no point in getting the guitar if it's gonna be frustrating to play. I love the drum peripheral, however, so I plan on buying that separately (though I wish it had 5 pads arranged in a W instead of the dumbed-down 4) along with the mic and game.

That probably also has to do with the fact that they widened the window of time that you can hit each note.

Yes it does. I played the PS2 version with my 2yr old sg guitar and I can hit all of those as well. It's not very difficult in GH3 to do so with the extended window of opportunity to hit the notes.

It's funny. I was giving my new Les Paul a lot of credit for all the 16th notes and HO/POs I was hitting in GH3. But then I was playing co-op and switched to my old Xplorer, the guitar everyone hates. I didn't miss a beat though. I hit everything I could with my Les Paul just as easily.
I think the quality of the Les Paul has been exagerated by the window timing shift in GH3.
As for the OP, it's so hard to take you seriously after getting some hands on time with the guitar myself. I tried everything on the RB strumbar and I never had it miss a strum. Not a single time in 3 hours. Same with the drums. I could get it to register just dropping the stick on it without putting any strength into it whatsoever.
Maybe your guitar really did get broken. But until I start experiencing these problems myself, I can't help but just assume all you haters are just unable to make the shift from Guitar Hero clicky to Rock Band mushy. Give the mushy a chance. I'm telling you, people watching you play the game think that clicking sound is annoying and lame. If nothing else, make the switch for them.

The only problem I've had has been with hitting notes in quick succession with all down strokes. Also, I haven't gotten a hold of Up-Down strumming with the new strum bar. This makes any quick notes tougher...but I was still able to hit them. I really think it's a matter of getting used to the different guitar.

Now I'm just curious what you posted originally, I didn't see it. It's really bugging me that I missed it. It's one of my compulsive bahaviors. I'm the guy that saves his game before a conversion in RPGs so that I can go through and read every single possible conversation branch. Even if nothing changes, I have to read it all.
You're such a tease.

I misunderstood one of your posts, and attempted to correct you. Then I realized you had it right, and I hit ignore.

I played a walmart demo and my problem was that the strum bar was too responsive, I would sometimes only strum once, but it would strum twice, i guess maybe I got it on the upstrum too? I quickly adjusted from the clickbar playing style to lightly tapping it. It's a shame, too because I love the buttons...especially the ones on the top of the neck.

BUT...it did sometimes not respond at all as well...it was kinda buggy in general. I hope the demo controllers are just prototypes...
