It's not the most common snap point, but it's happened to hundreds of other people. I'm curious to see your playing style to have it snap there.

Were you playing with your shoes on?

That's what happened to my first pedal. Only problem I've had with any part of the drum set so far.

No. I play toe down. Career score over 10 mil.

I've had a snap like that before. If you're looking for a quick and free fix, the butter knife one on youtube is good. Fortunately, my red drum snapped in two within a matter of days, so I got a new pedal at the same time!

I have a second broken pedal, but I broke the spring on that one (my fault), so I went ahead and made one good pedal. I've been waiting on my destroyer pedal for 3 1/2 months--maybe it'll arrive some time this year!

That's where mine broke. And no, I don't play with shoes on and play heel down.

I think I'm going to tape the bottom of it. I don't want this to happen again.

On my first pedal, that was the third and fatal crack that occurred. I'm seriously considering an Omega Pedal now.

Same thing happened to my first pedal, then my second pedal snapped in half in the middle the way most of them do.
That picture is the exact reason why the new RB2 drum pedal will still break...they only replaced the foot plate with metal, not the back part with the pin that always snaps too!
I am telling you....buy an "all metal" drum pedal...they cost about 45 bucks....got mine on ebay and they rule!!!!!

this is the golden question, as i've never seen someone snap their foot pedal while playing bare-footed like i do, i am very heavy footed so if anything i should have gone through 3 pedals or more by now, yet i havent gone thru any cause i play bare-footed, i dont even use socks as they add too much weight!

I never play with shoes on. And i rarely play with socks on. And I play heel down. And that's where mine broke (It did take a good 6 months).
Now i've got an omega pedal :)

Thats where my pedal has broken the last two times. Of course i didnt spend the money on the metal pedal. i used two paint stir sticks and that is the only spot on my pedal that is not reinforced.

If you play with your whole foot on the pedal, it should be fine. Many people, I included, play more with the ball of my foot. When I press in the middle of the pedal it flexes. It's the constant flexing that eventually breaks the pedal in the middle.
I screwed a metal plate onto one pedal after the pedal broke in half. It worked fine until the base itself broke in half.
I gave up and got an Omega pedal. And I am trying to get in the habit of not hitting the pedal so hard. :-)

This is EXACTLY what just happened to me a few days ago. Except I didn't screw the metal braces on the pedal; I duct taped them. (Not voiding warranties ftw!) I went out and bought two more braces and set them on the bottom with some more duct tape. My pedal is pretty much more metal than plastic now.

The 2 pedals I broke were not because of weight, I play keyboards, (for real) so I have timing and I play without shoes on the drums and I am very light on the pedal....both of them snapped because of prolonged play.....plastic heats up and snaps....if I played longer than 2 hours the pedal would get hot and snap at any weak point!

If I think of it when I get home from work, I'll post a picture of my pedal. It's hilarious, because it's broken (and been "fixed") in every possible place. Now it looks like a big ball of duct tape and scrap metal, but it works just fine.
