07/29 DLC Theories!

First off I want to say I know for a fact this thread has been made before (I even posted in it) but after 10 minutes of looking (I went all the way back to page 20) I couldn't find it. :confused: :mad: :confused:

So lets get the conspiracy theories flying!! :D

Since it is the last week of month many people believe that we will get an album (Me included) but others insist that The Who pack was our album for the month (and yes I know HMX never confirmed to be releasing an album per month but that has been the pattern :p )

My other theory comes from watching the Jimmy Kimmel Show...seems every band (thats still together or recently reunited) we get DLC for is either on Jimmy Kimmel a week before or a week after we get one of their songs. And considering Def Leppard has a new CD out and was on Jimmy Kimmel last night. I have to think that next week (ontop of our album or pack) we will also get a new single(or 3 pack) of songs from the new Def Leppard CD.

*Normally there is a list of rumored DLC and possible theories attached to this thread, but since I normally don't make this thread there will not be a list of rumored DLC (Unless someone else adds it ;) )

It's not a totally wild guess. We have a song off the album already, no Deep Purple DLC, it has iconic tunes on it (Smoke on the Water) and Epic DLC + legendary albums have been promised by HMX staff (If you want links I'll get them). So I think this qualifies as educated guess as to a release, but dreams and wishes for when it is released.

I maintain my original theory. The oddities of the NIN pack lead me to believe that it's just setting us up for an entire pack of songs where the guitarist plays keyboard and synth parts. What does that mean?

I think we can bank on Nevermind not coming out as an album (if at all) before RB 2. It would be kind of dumb to have an album release and than leave out Drain You as it is going to be on RB 2. If we get Nevermind, I bet it will be right after RB 2 is released.

A few things:

-I think we get an album even though the Who pack came out...HMX always likes to give us more.

-I remember an HMX employee saying that there was a lot of classic rock in there when talking about upcoming albums.

-I also see 3 or 4 madden songs coming out with the album.

Well, the best way to figure out what the possible DLC might be would be to look and see if any major artists have any specials or concerts this week for promotional tie-ins. Next, check the new album releases and look for some Rock Band friendly artists and see if there are any new albums by them coming out this week. I'm too lazy to do it, myself, but that will always provide good clues. Lastly, it could be a new "emerging artist" with a new album coming out this week.

My guess is the last. I think we will get 3 songs by lesser-known artists this week.

We didn't get the Weezer "Red Album" pack until several weeks after it's release, I think we're due for Priest.

CaptainFeral, while I agree with you, I also don't agree with you. As this would be a promo for the new album, I do believe that it would be possible to get it. We aren't talking about tracks be released from older albums. JP would undoubtedly have an interest in promoting this album in any way possible, thus possibly opening up the opportunity possible.

Yes, because The Who, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rush are all second rate bands. Okay, maybe they're not up your alley, but still to call them second rate is falling straight into lunacy.

However, let's address your points here....

1) We haven't had indi releases at all yet via DLC. ALL bands released via DLC have had big label contracts. The closest thing to an indi release that we've had has been "The Mother Hips", who are now kind of indi, but they had a recording contract with American Records for many years (The only reason why they don't have one right now is because American Records went belly-up in the 90's).

2) We have had only 1 pack of HMX band songs, and that was released so as to level the playing field between both consoles. The PS3 folks were complaining that they couldn't get the OXM songs period, and non-subscribers who didn't want to buy a crappy magazine just for 3 songs complained because they couldn't get the songs either. As far as I'm concerned, this was a good will gesture on the part of HMX to ensure that all parties had equal access to all songs.

3) We have had a grand total of 1 out of 200 or so DLC songs that has been used as a B-side ("Queen *****" for those that are interested). Have we gotten quite a few album cuts? Yes, but the music industry does not start and end with singles. Singles are chosen because they're the simplest songs off the album that will appeal to the greatest audience. Compare the only successful single released off of the "Screaming For Vengeance" album ("You've Got Another Thing Comin'") to some of the other tracks (i.e. "Electric Eye"/"Bloodstone") and you'll see the songs that were not released are a lot more complex.

So, I really have no idea where you're coming from with your predictions because we've had:
No indi releases whatsoever
One HMX band pack to appease the PS3ers and some Xboxers
1 B-side (which was also an album cut), probably chosen because of it's quirky nature.

Enjoy your cynicism while the rest of us rock out to big name releases that you don't seem to acknowledge.

Another thing I can see being released in the near future is an indie pack (which would be awesome), that would probably include leaked tracks like New Pornographers' "Use It" and Harvey Danger's "Cream And Bastards Rise"

The Who is ok. I'll get one, maybe two of those songs the next time I buy DLC. I don't buy every week when it comes out. I wait until there are 3-4 decent songs I want then buy at once, maybe once or twice a month. (Boston I bought as soon as it was available)

RHCP the same, but I consider them filler. They are an enjoyable radio band that sold a lot of albums. Flea is a killer bassist though, and makes for some interesting runs for our band's bassist.

Rush though.. Sorry Rush fans, I don't like them. I know that some people do, and I respect and admire thier drummer, quite a bit. I realize he *IS* the real deal, but that singer.. holy hand grenades, someone scratch a nail on a chalk board please... He sounds like my 2 year old daughter with a stuffy nose trying to sing the blues clues song. Seriously, he's annoying, so Rush? No thank you. To me, thats filler.

(Disclaimer, that is MY OPINION only, and I in no way want to tell anyone else to listen to anything or not listen to anything, I completly respect the right for other people to enjoy Rush, buy Rush DLC, and Request Rush DLC. If they were to release all of Moving Pictures as some people are speculating and it included YYZ then it would be first Rock Band song that's purely instrumental with no singing. Personally I don't mind it because:

A) It's an amazing song I would love to play on drums (can already play guitar in GH2)
B) Usually whenever I get a band together its just me and two friends so I either sing at the same time as playing guitar or we have no singer

But that would be an interesting conundrum and I've wondered before would it turn out. Would it be cowbell the whole time or just let your singer be a jerk and freestyle the whole time (they would be jerks anyway if they freestyled like my friends).

I'm saying we get some metal this week. It's been a while. Maybe the six songs from Master of Puppets that aren't instrumental and not in Rock Band 2. If not that, then possibly they'll be announcing something huge. Maybe it'll be the announcement that they'll be getting a band's entire catalog available in Rock Band. If that happens, my guess for the band would be Metallica, mainly because they are requested so much and obviously like this game a lot.

I don't know. Metallica has a song in Rock Band 2 and another in Rock Revolution. There is obviously going to be something in GHWT and I doubt that their limiting each party to choosing one song. They seem to the band that's most willing to let people use their music. They probably made sure with Activision that they weren't exclusive with them. Even with that being the case, Activision would never turn down that offer. They know how popular the band is.

Anyway, that's my theory. I just know that at some point, we're gonna start seeing discographies. There isn't a single doubt in my mind.

Well, I'm sure it'll happen eventually. I, personally, would prefer ...And Justice For All, but that's mainly because "To Live is to Die" is on there, and it's only the greatest song Metallica has. However, Harmonix needs to open up to instrumentals first.

I change my mind to Iron Maiden. I say that we get the entire Piece of Mind album. It's just a perfect fit for this game. I know I say Iron Maiden every week, but I'll be right one of these days!

I think you were right when the crappy NoTB cover came out and you won't be right again for a while. I'd love to have Hallowed Be Thy Name or honestly any real Maiden on this game (just finally gettin into them thanks to that Kerrang Maiden Heaven album. got Powerslave literally 5 minutes ago on itunes)

Haha awesome. I've only been crazy about Maiden for the last 4 1/2 months, but god damn, the songs are so awesome. I became at the right time, seeing how I've seen them live twice this year. But, Powerslave is amazing. The first listen of it that I had, I was blown away. "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is just so awesome.
