Help me I´m from Sweden :P

Hiya!

I´m new to this place so please don´t slap my fingers if ive missed something :)

Im contemplating buying rock band for ps3 from the US via an online store that ships internationally (to Sweden). However it´s very hard for an outsider like me to know which stores that ships internationally and which of em are reliable enough.

So far i´ve found GameExpress.com, they ship to Sweden, but use wire transfer. are there any stores that use paypal or VISA-card payment? Is GameExpress a reliable store?

Any suggestion of store that ship internationally and has a good rep is welcome!

Also, is there any compability problem between US-rock band and EU-ps3 ?

ps. the reason for me wanting to buy from the US is the late release here in Sweden (Q1 2008, date not set), and I simply cannot wait that long =)

Yes, EU uses PAL television and US uses NTSC. The picture will jump like crazy if you try to play an NTSC game on a PAL tv.

ive been told that ps3 games doesnt have any PAL/NTSC compability problems and that US-imported games works fine in Sweden. If there is any exception for Rock Band however, I don´t know, but maybe u do?

The disc is encoded as PAL or NTSC, whether or not the machine is regional. I think you're thinking of a region lock, not the physics of how signals are transmitted electronically.

The machine may be able to play the game fine, but it's still an NTSC game, so if the machine goes into NTSC mode, it then won't work with your tv.

If the PS3 has defeated this, I'd love to hear about it.

I cant get technical with you but ive read on several swedish blogs and forums and everyone says that you can import ps3 games from anywhere and it will work fine in sweden, so, we´ll leave it there.

Back to the important part of my question.. good american shopping sites with international shipping? anyone? :)

however, if you use a PC monitor (not sure about PS3 as I have an Xbox360 and this is true for it), you won't have any PAL/NTSC problems I don't think. I could be wrong though, but a lot of guys here in USA hook up the 360 via VGA to to their PC monitor and monitors don't have the same PAL-NTSC issues that I'm aware of.

Anyway, have you googled for stores that have international shipping? How about some place like Amazon.com or Ebay/Half.com storefronts? Lots of those sellers will ship anywhere if you pay the import/shipping/whatever.

I'm australian and impottying the game and this was the only site i could find that would actually ship the gfame to me. Had a few pronlems with them accepting my crediyt card but othersise it all worked fine.

Oh also gamestop.com is a trusyted site, one of the biggest gaming retailers in the US.

Amd concerning the PAL/NTSC, the ps3 handles it its just a question as to if ur tv will be compatible. If u have a tv made in the last 7 years then theres a very high chance it will be able to play both NYSC and PAL.

Finally, dont hate me coz my spoelling sucks, its 4am and im quite wasted.

Ontopic: You do know that it gets much more expensive doing that though? I mean, my brother ordered a jacket from the US, wich in store cost 700 kr. When it came here he had to pay 800 kr extra for shipping costs and tollcosts.

Don't know if this is the case in all stores, but atleast keep it in mind.

I dont care really if it will be more expensive, i just want the friggin game :P FAST !
But ive done some maths and if the spec ed of the game costs 2000 kr in Sweden like they say it will.. it wont be more than that with toll costs and shipping. The game will sell for 169.99 USD (1100kr ca) + 25% toll + 30 USD shipping (via Gamestop) which adds up to a total of about 1600 kr. But anything below 2000 kr or even above would be reasonable if I just could get the game in the end of this month. I´m so hot for this game :D

I´ll prolly order from Gamestop, if I cant get a friend of a friend that lives in the US to buy and ship it to me, that would feel a lot safer.
And I dont like the whole deal with credit card verification or wire transfers.

ive gotten hold of my friend in the US and he said he could send it for me, however he´s not the fastest person I know so even if I told him to pre order it he prolly wont, and the stores will run out and I wont get the bleedin game, I just know it :).. nightmare scenario! well time will tell I guess :)
