Sorry if this is the wrong forum or if this has been posted already.
A rumored GHWT setlist has popped up. You can find it here: click here (http://gonintendo.com/?p=50262#more-50262)
Both Rock Band and Guitar Hero have some pretty good setlists. I'm planning on getting RB2, but I'm hoping that RB controllers are compatible with GHWT.

I see only 4 songs on there that I really want....the 3 tool songs and comfortably numb
but this list seems very unbalanced, I doubt it's real

A lot of songs we already have and some decent stuff.
Personally, not a lot draws me to that list.

But it's going to show up in Rockband. Thankyou Harmonix!!

One good thing about GH:WT is they don't seem to be too interested in "deep cuts" like Harmonix. I don't mind deep cuts as DLC, but not on a retail disc!
GH:WT has all the right hits from the right artists, Light my Fire by the Doors, Hot for Teacher for Van Halen, Santeria by Sublime... Rock Band with those same artists would give us Under Waterfall by the Doors, Hear about it Later by Van Halen and Work that we Do by Sublime.
Example: I was wrong by Social Distortion ... how about Ball and Chain, please!
Save the deep cuts for DLC.

Crazy Train, Car Chase City, Beat It, Angel of Death, Master of Puppets, Tornado of Souls-dude! I like more songs on here than I do for Rock Band 2, but the question remains, will DLC be steady? Has Neversoft learned it's lesson?

I'll wait till it's official, but if this truly is the setlist looks like I will spend the money on the game. However, I till not be buying new peripherals. I have plenty of gh2 + 3 controllers plus rockband/rockband 2 will have all my drumming/vocals needs covered.

If this is true..I'm def buying both.....RB...better game
GH..better setlist
Seems pretty fake to me, theres a set that compromises of "emo" and is called QQ lets be honest there not actually gonna do that it would piss off too many people. Also wasnt there supposed to be the new metallica album having some tracks on there?
I'll be suprised if even 50% of the list ends up on the game. Looks like those tracks have been hand picked by someone to try and make a list that would please the general "rock" public.
Would be funny as hell if HMX had some of that stuff coming up as DLC though just to see peoples faces(mainly the gh fanboys who have comments on that link) when they realised the rumour was infact not true at all.
I'll prolly end up buying gh:wt at some point aslong as my rb instruments work ok.. Then again it all depends on if/when i get bored of RB :)

Plus...how come GH can get a great Maiden master but not RB...
It might be because Harmonix is backed up by MTV. Iron Maiden and MTV has never really gotten along.
If this list is true, then it's a great setlist, but judging from the gameplay we've seen, it won't be enough to sway me to buy it. The game just looks so unpolished compared to Rock Band, let alone Rock Band 2.

You are joking right? That setlist is good. Really good. If it IS TRUE, that is going to draw a lot of people from rock band. I don't see how it could be though, seems like there are WAY TOO MANY big names on there. Nearly every song is either mainstream, freakin awesome, or famous.

Despite my excitement for this list there are several flaws with it. First Sting plays bass not guitar so that would be a bass duel a few of those songs (YYZ, Nottingham Lace, Misirlou, Cliffs of Dover) have no words. I am fairly certain that I don't wanna miss a thing has no guitar despite how much i love that song. so i think it is fair to say that most if not all of this song is fake.
Honestly I think the first half of this setlist isn't that great at all. The last half though looks pretty decent. I still like the RB tracklist better based on my tastes.
Also wtf about the deep cuts thing? Most of the rockband songs are very well known and/or singles...even the social distortion song (although I admit that one isn't a favorite of mine)

I think this setlist would be pretty amazing and blows RB2 out of the water. It is much more of a who's who list of rock in my opinion. I almost hope the gameplay isn't horrible as I expect it to be so the game will be worth getting.
On second look, I guess the number of songs I'd want is close to equal between the two games, but there are some really excellent song choices for GH:WT. I think the GH:WT setlist is more geared toward people who like the most well-known rock bands/music.

Whats wrong with those in bold again? Cause there not mainstream?
Deep cuts or not, I Thank harmonix for the not played out tracks from good bands. Yes i would like some of the top 40 stuff as much as the next person, but keep up the deep cut <poetry gotta love it.
Besides deep cust can lead to more well known DLC. this game is around a year old. Most good bands put out an album every 1-3 years, so i say harmonix will start throwin out the good stuff soon.
Oh and OZZY for Rock Band.

First of all, I highly doubt that this entire setlist is real. Obviously some songs have been semi-confirmed, but there does seem to be a lot of big name songs and bands. (TOOL?!? OMFG!!)
If the setlist is in fact legit- than GHWT would go from a rental/possible buy to a must-buy for me, based primarily on Comfortably Numb and Tool.
One thing that keeps crossing my mind- why hasn't the GHWT setlist been revealed? I mean, E3 is over, HMX unveiled their ENTIRE setlist, and yet barely a peep from Activision. Why??
Think they are afraid to announce their setlist? (not being a smartass, seriously)

Well all those songs with no words were created using the Create a Song feature, which doesn't allow for vocals - so it's a possibility. And there is guitar in "I Don't Wanna Miss Thing".

I agree that this would be more of a whos who of rock...it seems that there are more songs that at a party people would be like "I wanna play that song"....When friends come over to play, especially girls, they don't want to try these new songs and mostly don't care about the challenge of the game..they just wanna have fun to some song they like, I have noticed that out of the original RB disk, Dont Fear the Reaper,Gimme Shelter, Say It Ain't So, and Dead or Alive are the only songs picked, luckily I have a ton of DLC but there still isn't a whole slew of those songs that people see and are like "WOW, I have to play that song"....Kick Start My Heart, Crazy Train, Beat It, Sweet Home Alabama, Boys are back in town, Paradise City, I dont wanna miss a thing, every breathe you take, and Santaria are all songs that fit this category....this would be a huge win in the set list department as far as parties go..

I do agree that HMX has been known to go for the 'deep track' at times but not all the time. Sometimes when you go for 'hit' you get Alive by Pearl Jam and not Given To Fly or Yellow Ledbetter or In Thin Air. I would have rather had the deep cut in that particular case. I think they have done pretty damn good all in all. The Squeeze, Beck, and GnR choices were horribly chosen but maybe they couldnt get Black Coffee, Loser, and Welcome To The Jungle respectively and had to settle.
who knows. one this is for sure if the rumored setlist is real, it is probably pound-for-pound a better setlist than RB2's setlist...that doesnt make it a better game or experience by any stretch but the track selection is pretty good when it counts. Yeah there is a lot of screamo and lame new music but their classic rock and classic metal and classic 90's alternative choices are pretty spot on. Spin The Black Circle isn't a bad choice but I wouldn't have chosen that one myself.

I'm wondering the same freaking thing myself! It's not like the songs they've unveiled already are bad. Quite the opposite, actually, I think there is more good than bad. What's the holdup? Who knows? Maybe they're trying to cause a buzz just before they release their game...

3 songs by Tool in the band has already been confirmed as is the fact that the guitarist from Tool had a hand in designing the look of their 'own venue'. I can provide a link but just google it and voila! you will find it
hopefully Tool and Maynard will throw a little love to Harmonix in the future but even if they don't maybe they will at least continue to funnel stuff somewhere (neversoft)

Not saying this gives the list any additional credibility, but there has been a rumor of a single venue in GH:WT with three Tool songs for months.
As for the Red Hot Chili Peppers song. How does a person get so much right and then fail to type "Give it Away"?
My prediction: fake

well three songs of the same band on disc = fail (unless it's an artist specific disk).

Some OK songs on there. I think there are a few more songs on there total that I'm interested in over the RB2 setlist. So I'll definitely pick it up.
I don't recall RHCP having a song called "Take it Away", however.
Edit: I hadn't finished the list totally before posting... Master of Puppets? I'm having a hard time believing that list. I don't get why GH would have that kick ass song, while we've been BEGGING and BEGGING Rock Band for it and they just seem to refuse...

I didn't want to get GH:WT, but if it seriously has "We're An American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad I am 100% buying it.
Are you listening HMX? Release GRAND FUNK RAILROAD DLC!!! :D
That's a real nice setlist (if true).
It almost makes the game an auto-buy.
BUT, I play the game to enjoy the music. If the charting sucks, that ruins it for me. We'll see, won't we?
But there are a lot of songs I'd love to play on that setlist. I wish it were a listing of future DLC for RB, actually. :D

It's a great song list, no doubt about it, but I don't know that I'd go so far as to say it's better than the RB2 list, as good maybe, but not better.
There is one thing that makes me think it's fake though...no vocal or drum boss battles. Why even include them if you are only putting them in the guitar tour? Wasn't Travis Barker supposed to be featured as a "boss" in the game. Of course, the simple fact that the game still has those innane boss battles makes me NOT want to get it.
One thing folks are overlooking is the solo tour structure. It looks like GH:WT is sticking to the standard locked set lists for the most part, which is a real disappointment, and makes me wonder how the BWT mode will actually flow. I much prefer the more open RB2 solo/band tour structure which will include DLC.

Some of these songs have been confirmed and the people in the game like Ted Nugent have been confirmed as well, so I hate to say it but this list feels to be legitamite to me. Harmonix, you know what we're up against so get ready for battle!

I would kill to see some of those songs in RB2. It's too bad... I just know the GH charts aren't going to be nearly as good as the RB2 ones would be - and going back and playing GH now, it feels so... Primitive.
I wish this were the RB2 setlist. That would be awesome.

If this is true then this is the scenario
Activision Guy 1: *looks over all the songs in rock band, dlc, and rock band 2 and all the features* "Hey Steve the fans of rock band sure do love Harmonix lets see if we can fool them and buy our game we'll call it guitar hero: WORLD TOUR that way they can't say they thought it was a harmonix game and got confused and bought it."
Steve...aka guy 2: "Yea we can use the same songs and bands...plus jimi hendrix so its sooo much better, Leslie."
Leslie...aka guy 1: "Awesome and I bet they won't care about anything else but the songs so lets just get this thing out quick!"
Steve: "We'll get twice the success of Rock Band cause we have the Guitar Hero name."
Leslie: "One last thing, I have a great slogon for us to show that we didn't copy harmonix and rock band...'Guitar Hero:World Tour...Changing the Music-Game Genre"
P.S. I've always wanted to do one of these scenario things and I think I may have gotten carried away with it but oh well.
P.S.S. I don't think the fans of rock band are stupid
P.S.S.S. Remember this is only if the set list is true...which I can believe because the Neversoft people are being a'holes about GH:WT and since the recent GH's and TH's have disappointed me they deserve this
P.S.S.S.S. I know the bands in both setlists(the reaccuring ones) are bands that have been staples in music games and thats why they are in both but who made them staples(harmonix) and that is why harmonix is going out and bringing different and diverse bands into the Rock Band platform
I hope this setlist is real but it's missing quite a few from Ok computers list. Where's the Allman Bros., No Doubt, Fleetwood Mac, Modest Mouse, or the Billy Corgan, Ozzy, and Hayley battles? Awesome list if true just for the Maiden master.

This is especially a problem due to the picture of Billy Corgan in a mo-cap suit floating around.

If this is the list, I am DEFINITELY buying GH:WT. However, IF they had Pink Floyd in their game, I could almost guarantee they'd be talking about it somewhere.
Comfortably Numb
Tool
Crazy Train
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Mr. Brightside
Life in the Fast Lane
Paradise City
Runaway
Sweet Home Alabama
Boys are Back in Town
Master of Puppets
Johnny B. Goode
Seems a little TOO good to be true.

Some songs in there I would most certainly want.... Johnny B Goode, Santeria, Runnaway, Hendrix, Doors, Paradise City....
But I would not say that it is better then RB2's list either.... plus RB2 has a ton of DLC built up....
If that is all they got then I will just hold out for those songs to show up as DLC on RB2...

I don't want to pay another $200 because Activi$ion doesn't want insturment compatibility.
Unless GH:WT lets you use RB insturments

I'm always skeptical of lists, but to me this one looks real. Why? just because of the way the tour venues are set up. It's totally unexpected, but seems to make sense given what we know, just like when the GH3 setlist was leaked. The tier titles like "Battle For Your Soul" and the like just seemed to different to make up, like this one does.
I almost hope it's fake because this trumps Harmonix big-time with the blockbuster songs.
The thought of RB fans sitting here with no Maiden and silence from Harmonix while Activision gets a "Hallowed Be Thy Name" master burns me up to no end. Maybe there is some truth to Maiden hating MTV. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite you face (Maiden, I'm, talking to you). Let's just hope Harmonix is planning to drop some (Maiden) bombs with these 20 free songs, or some mega-DLC.
I don't know how I should feel about this list...

So glad I got a 360 instead of shilling out more for the PS3. :D
Going to be doing a lot of disc-swapping this fall and so on....

Yeah, I seriously doubt that they could get a band like Floyd.....
I actually don't like it at all, other than a few good songs, it's horrible. It completely lacks balance at all (seriously, why the hell would Tool get three songs and everybody else one?), also there's an utter lack of indie rock, and too much metal/'80s cheese...

I don't get why people were saying Harmonix goes for deep cuts when you look at some of that setlist. First off, look at The Eagles song. Tell me what it isn't. Looks like a deep cut, as per your standards. Don't start getting double standard on me, either. Life in the Fast Lane is a 'deep cut' per the standards of those that like to use the word.
Second, the Dio song? lol what? Where's the Rainbow in the Dark? Or the Holy Diver (doesn't matter it was in 80's). Another deep cut.
10,000 Fists? Seems Rock Band DIDN'T deep cut us this time while Guitar Hero DID. Hey, these aren't my standards I'm going by, so...
Weezer isn't Hash Pipe, so it's a deep cut.
Car Chase City isn't Tribute, so it's a deep cut.
Rock Band got the Bon Jovi right. Livin' On a Prayer? Hell yes.
See, I can do this, too.

Really? Guitar battle with Sting? Seriosuly? From what I recall, Sting plays bass.
And if this is true, I'll get it. Only because I remember reading that you can skip songs you don't want to play (IE, basically all of the first few tiers), so I can just play the few songs I want to near the end.

You, sir, just won a BRAND NEW CAR!!! :D
...and a Rock Band Entertainment Studio so that you'll never have to leave your car!!
Brilliant, HMX, brilliant
Honestly since rockband is more fully integrating DLC into their new game then on disc setlist isn't as important considering there will be 500 songs available by years end. Plus there are still 20 more songs that are free that haven't been announced yet.
There are some good ones on the GHWT list, I'll admit though. Don't care for a lot of the newer stuff they chose but Hendrix is great, they picked my favorite eagles song, pink floyd and thin lizzy are epics tunes, etc.
Lucky for me I'll be getting both games but unless GHWT has better gameplay modes and/or steps up the quality and quantity of dlc (and integrates it into the game fully) I think I'll probably spend more time playing rockband after the initial release period is history.

If they found masters from a 1958 song that work with the format of the game, that's pretty amazing. It's difficult enough to get them from the late '60s.
Anyway. This thread is based on rumors. As such, it's getting locked.
