Why isn't there a push for some Elvis songs. I know he's basically a singer, but there are a lot of songs that would be great for Rock Band at least for guitar and vocals like Viva Las Vegas, Marie's the Name (His Latest Flame), Suspicious Minds, Burning Love etc.

What the hell do the Beatles have to do with it? It's pretty obvious the title is just a bait-and-switch to get people who were about to crucify you (like me) for insulting the Beatles to read your thread.

I think its a reference to how Beatles fans are usually not Elvis fans, and vice versa.

I never really understood why people love Elvis so much. He's really no different than a fabricated pop star who can't write their own material. Sure, he did a lot for our culture, but he doesn't have very many songs that are "his". I'd rather have some Chuck or Bo.

Whoa wait, sorry if I insulted Beatles fans, but I my point was that everyone is clamouring for the Beatles to be in the game, but I've yet to hear anyone looking for Elvis. Hey I like a lot of the mid 60s beatles stuff (Revolver, Rubber Soul) but I think Elvis has as much a right to be in this game as any of the 60s artists. Especially for those Vocal players out there. And if you ask my opinion my Beatles tunes that I would like in the game are Taxman and Day Tripper.

That would be great since Suspicious Minds and Burning Love are my two favorite Elvis songs to sing.

Oh and LIMELIGHT, the reason why I mentioned the Beatles is that I've heard everyone crying so much for the Beatles but Elvis's songs have been just as good Rock Band songs for this game. Yet I haven't heard a lot of Elvis requests. Sorry if the 1950s are not represented but it is also an important part of the history of Rock Bands.

His biggest stuff was mostly from the 50s and RB has no songs from the 50s (and it only has a few from the 60s anyway). It's questionable whether the Beatles' masters will even work for RB so Elvis seems almost out of the question, so I think that's part of the reason a lot of people don't even bring him up.

I can see that, definitely the best of EP is from the 50s, however some of this stuff is from live performances from the mid-late 70s ie. Satellite concert from Hawaii and the Last Concert. It may be at least as good as Live at Leeds, so there is a hope. I guess my original point was, why is everybody dying to have the Beatles for this game, but I haven't heard anyone yearning for Elvis or any of the other great 50s Rock Bands (ie. Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry). Their drum or guitar solos may not be so hot but damn, its better than some of the DLC out there

Elvis was an important part of the creation of the rock 'n roll genre but he isn't really relevant to the concept of a "rock band" (electric guitar, electric bass, drum kit, vocalist). Groups like The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Who, and their contemporaries are much better examples of early rock bands.

Not to disparage The Beatles, but I've always felt that they were a pop band (albeit a very good one). They had simple melodies, catchy chord progressions, lyrics that focused mainly on love and relationships, and legions of rabid female (and male) fans; they literally created the genre. It's rather unfortunate that the artistry and talent that they had has mostly faded from pop music, but if you know where to look it's still there (and is actually pretty enjoyable even if it's lighthearted and silly). Their influence can't be denied, but a rock band they were not.

I'd love to have some Beatles DLC, though.

Beatles as a "pop" band. That's a good one.

I think Elvis would be a great addition to the game. It's funny because ever since the Presley estate sold their majority stake CKX for $100 mil (85% stake) I thought it would be pretty easy to cut a deal with them since CKX is looking for any way to make a buck of the Elvis name.

Given where things stand in the music industry it would seem a no-brainer to license his songs for rhythm games? But what do I know...

I can't stand how Elvis is called "The King of Rock and Roll." He is more pop like. I am just going to say it(and probably get flamed). I think the Beatles are the king of Rock.

...Could have something to do with the fact you usually don't have more then one king. Out of all the pop/Rok individual singers of the era Elvis was the most popular and best selling..... So since he was on top... he was "the king".

Which realistically could mean that Michael jackson's the jester...

I think its a reference to how Beatles fans are usually not Elvis fans, and vice versa.

And The Cure fans are not usually Rage Against the Machine fans. This reasoning makes no sense. (I'm a fan of all four artist, btw.)

The likely reason is the great majority of Elvis masters probably aren't usable for the game, although some of his '70s material might be (but then again, does anyone really want '70s Elvis?). Maybe some of the better latter day stuff ("Suspicious Minds," "In the Ghetto") can find it's way to Rock Band, or that remix of "A Little Less Conversation."

I'd like to see some early rock and roll/rockabilly even if it was covers.

How could Elvis songs be fun on drums or guitar? Some of the bass lines are cool, as are the vocals, but Elvis is Elvis--nobody cared about the instruments.

Well there are some decent guitar parts in some Elvis songs (ie Little Sister), but I agree they are hardly shredders or great drum songs. But there are lots of songs already in Rock Band that are pretty lame guitar songs but they are in because they are simply good songs (ie Roxanne). I think this would be a fun addition and it could expand some of the Rock Band audience. (My parents play and they would kill for some Beatles and Elvis, although I have to admit it's fun watching my 56 year old mom explain at parties that she much prefers playing Creep to War Pigs.)

As for the duplicate thread, yeah yeah, I'm sorry kill the other thread so I can be put out of my misery.

just my own two cents here, but i can't think of a worse candidate for RB than Elvis. Let me take that back. New Kids on the Block would be worse. But not by much. Somebody did say Chuck or Bo have more of a right to be in the game, and that's the best thing I've seen posted all day.

The Beatles...Oh dip!!I give an arm to play some Beatle mania Music...as for those who diss the Beatles...Let's just say they were and are still one of the greatest bands to ever lived...and have influence to much music..some of you kids aren't even old enough to know the Beatles..let alone have an ear to listen to their music..most of u are into rap and cheap rock&roll and heavy metal that u cant understand...True music comes from the good old days.

True music comes from the good old days.

Do you mean...Bach? Mozart? I mean lets face it, those days your talking about are still new when it comes to music.

Music's quality is in the ear of the listener... doesn't matter when its from.

The Beatles, especially Paul McCartney, were huge Elvis fans who were very excited when they got the opportunity to hang out with him. I also have another little-known fact to share. Only three artists have ever replaced themselves at the top of the Billboard singles chart: Elvis, The Beatles, and Boyz II Men. I want all three as DLC (yes, Boyz II Men does have workable tracks with a full band behind them).
