Perhaps they've bumped back the shipping date for new orders so that they can meet the peripheral demand? I can imagine a situation where the online store here isn't promising bundles for the 20th anymore. Also, though, they could have delayed it for a variety of reasons, meeting the preorder demand or peripheral manufacturing (or a BWT online patch for launch, perhaps - are you happy now, you whiny bastards? :) )

It'd be a bummer to have to wait another week... can we get a HMX comment on this??

Normally game delays are irritating, but somewhat to be expected. However, in this case it is just cold. The game is done and some units have been shipped already, like to IGN. Therefore the only reason for a delay is that they want more units for the shelves for launch day. This is totally pointless since you can get more units out through multiple shipments. Even if thy launched on the 20th with limited shipments, the single week delay implies that they'd have more the next week. If people didn't reserve it and pick it up on the 20th then they probably don't care about the week-long wait. The only thing this move accomplishes is burning the die-hards like us who are the ones who are going to generate the publicity in the first place. The last reason that this delay in particular is cold is that the game is less than 3 weeks away. That's 2 1/2 weeks notice to reschedule/cancel parties meant to revolve around the game's launch.

That may very well not be the case, and both retailers and customers will be very upset if some of them pre-ordered only to find out that they don't get the game for another week or two after launch. No one is doing this just to "burn" us. We know Harmonix wants to get the game to us ASAP, and EA at least wants our money ASAP too.

Well, it doesn't even have to be that they made last minute changes to the design or whatever. Even if they finished developing the instruments on schedule, there are all sorts of technical production issues that could come up. For example, QA finds a batch of drums with a particular fault that need to be tossed out and re-made, or various other mundane issues that can really screw the timing up. It could simply be that production is taking longer than estimated, even without any specific problems.

Big Box Retailers will start receiving their shipments in the next week. I am absolutely certain that Harmonix will allow them to sell through their inventory on November 20th.

But let's not kid ourselves, there is a supply problem. EA/Harmonix originally wanted to wait until November 23rd to start selling, but had to move up to November 20th under retailer pressure. EA said this week that there will not be enough inventory to meet demand before next April. And I'm certain that inventory problems are why the Rock Band Store won't start shipping until November 27th.

Also, once people hear 'shortage' parents will decide this is the next Tickle Me Elmo or Wii, and they must have this for their kids.

It will not surprise me in the least if on November 20th some retailers don't even have enough inventory to meet preorders. I have an early Gamestop preorder, and I still plan on showing up at Walmart at midnight to cover my bases.

There will be armed mayhem and cannibalism on November 20th. Ignore me at your peril.

You may notice that the 360 bundle has an availability of "Sold Out" (http://www.rockbandstore.com/detail.php?p=45250).


This does not mean that if you pre-ordered before that you are out of luck already because imaginary copies have been sold through. :D

Going with the above posts, it is most likely that (the PS3 version at least) is sold through the first week and if you pre-order from the website now, you will be shipped your copy on the 27th.

The 360 supply looks to be severely constrained already. Glad I had my pre-order paid in full a few weeks back at the store.
