RB2 Photos... of your band?

I got the best idea last night when reading about some of the new RB2 features in Game Informer magazine.

There's going to be a band photo editor that lets you create and edit custom band pictures. You'll be able to pose your created characters and add your band's logo. You can then upload the pictures to the HMX server and you'll be able to purchase merch with your picture on it. Stickers, shirts, etc. There was also mention of custom character figurines you can buy.

So here is my idea. You create a band and model it after your own band in real life. You create characters based on the actual people in your band. Make them look as accurate as possible. Make your band's name and logo the same as it is IRL. Then you can make a band photo and use it to promote your real band.

Personally, I would love to have a sticker or t-shirt with Rock Band versions of me and my bandmates. And it would be hilarious to have a figurine of my real life drummer, Larry.

I know I will end up using this feature a lot when RB2 comes out. The possibilities are endless.

But then, people might think your real band might be a fake band because they're reproduced in the game? xD But yeah, if RB2's new character creation features is good enough to accurately remake your band members in the game, that'd be neat. Though, unless your bandmates are like.. boring looking, I expect their virtual persona to come out just as boring looking too. ^^; *pokes her boring Mii* :p

I'm not sure about the legality of reproducing other band's images and logos, especially if none of the money is going to the band, but you could definitely do it with your own band.

I think that would be very cool. A little extra credibility for music fans who are also RB fans.

It would also be cool for liners for CDs that have a bunch of different stuff on them - either as a photo of the real band as created in RB, or as a photo of your in game band.

Yeah, it would be cool to wear a shirt with your RB self on it too, or at least have SOMETHING physical to show it off. That totally reminded me of some funny True Hollywood Story spoof someone did that featured the inside story behind a Rock Band band. And the best part I'd say was the ending credits where they show the real-life person "played by" ..then followed up with the short intro video you see in RB when they introduce each band member in game.. showing their RB version of themselves. That was hilarious. I wish I had a link to show you because that'd be a better explaination. xD

If this feature does come out for RB2... and depending on the cost.. I'd be all over this! haha I think I'd make some funny ones, like make an artsy fartsy album cover like they show in one of the loading screens with the red and black album with your guy's profile on it. Then I'd make a silly one where we're lazing about in our practice space... one guy passed out on the beat up couch we found on the sidewalk, another member with a 40oz in one hand.. looking like he's angry at something, and the vocalist sitting in the corner with their notebook.. thinking up lyrics.. The bassist standing there.. picking their nose. :p

I hope so. That way, if you ever played with a HMX person, you could put them into your band.
