We are here today to say goodbye to a great X-Box. vtjustinb's X-Box was born and reared in the American heartland. But my friend is getting it too, so I can just bring my xplorer to play it at his house til I get my 360 back. ;D

Aww... that really sucks Justin. That's stupid you have to wait until mid December. When I got my "Ring-O-Death", I sent it in and got a new one about 2 weeks later... Of course, mine broke several months ago, probably before all this recent "Ring-O-Death" craziness started. Therefore, they were able to get me a new one faster since they didn't have as many others to deal with.

Looks like it's all friend's houses and Best Buys for you until December. Sorry buddy. :(

I finally got my 360 back on Monday for the 3redlights fix. Played games great especially the brand new GHIII. Wednesday night i discovered it wont play DVD's. They will play for like 2 or 3 minutes and then the screen freezes. I tried everything. Wiping down the DVD's different discs, nothing. Freezes everytime. So i sent it back to Microsoft and im just hoping to get it back before RB hits.

I own both consoles. There are a lot more 360 owners than PS3 owners, and a lot more games on the 360 to play. I think the reason for the way the 360 is treated is that if the PS3 breaks down, it really wouldn't affect me as much, because it would only stop me from playing Warhawk and Resistance; not 15 games.

If my PS3 broke down, I'd send it off to be repaired without flinching. If my 360 broke down, I'd be really pissed off.

What do you mean is this acceptable? :P Of course not, and I'm far from being happy about having it repaired.

Xbox rushed the consoles out and has been notorious for hardware failure--they did extend the warranty of purchased Xboxes by 3 years which was nice of them.

But just because my Xbox needs repairing doesn't make me want to rush out and buy a $600 gaming system that has 2-3 games I'd actually play though. Like I said, when the game base of PS3 and the price point is right I might buy it--otherwise I'll stick to my Xbox which has so many games I love I don't have enough time I play them all.

So I guess one question I have is are there any options if this does take a long time? I know back in the day you used to be able to rent consoles, but I don't think most places do this anymore. Is waiting my only option? (short of buying another console, which is kind of ridiculous).

Not all of em. Pretty much any Xbox 360 with the lot number of #735+ has the new chipset. I have a #726 Elite, and it doesnt have the new Falcon chipset. I believe it has a Zephyr. Watch out in the near future though, the Jasper chipset is arriving after Falcon!!!

Just as an update I got my repair box and mailed the xbox out today. Hoping for a miracle one-week turnaround. :P

Although GH3 is coming out for mac, so that'll give me something to do in the interim.
