Just something I was wondering about Full Album downloads. If an album already has songs from it available as DLC, does that eliminate it as a possibility for future full albums? i.e. We have Snow/Tell Me Baby, does that mean we'll never see the rest of Stadium Arcadium?

It hasn't happened yet (DLC at first being a single, then having an album), but it's by no means impossible.

Boston was pretty much a full album release. 1 song came with the game and the remaining songs (minus 1) was released as DLC.

They could do 2 pack options. Meaning:

- Full Album (including previously released DLC)
- Full Album minus previously released DLC

And, like always, I imagine they'd also let you purchase any of the songs separately.

I think my idea is good because then it accomodates earlier adopters of that DLC, plus it might encourage people who never bought those songs to finally get them as part of the full album.

He means like although Tom Sawyer and Limelight are already available, could Moving Pictures be an album download? Hell, if they were all Masters and I could choose which song to transfer to Rock Band 2, I'd rebuy Limelight and not transfer Tom Sawyer from Rock Band 1.

EDIT: Mind you though, that I would glady take any Rush album, like 2112 ;).

No, it doesn't. In todays announcement two of the songs are part of upcoming albums...

My bet? Since Limelight and Tom Sawyer are covers they'd go ahead and just release all of Moving Pictures, including those. That way you can finally get masters of Limelight and Tom Sawyer. They could just call those Limelight (Vault Edition) or whatever.

And that is what I would want. Although I'd rather go for another album, since we would be getting too much love for Moving Pictures with multiple song repeats, while leaving out other tracks from different albums. But, I'd be happy either way.

it wouldn't really be a vault edition though, maybe Limelight (Album Version)

Limelight (Master) maybe? I know it was Working Man (Vault Edition), because it was a track version that was never released (Hence the Vault part). And then Tom Sawyer would be Tom Sawyer (Master and we are sorry for the completely crappy cover that made Rush actually fail before going on The Colbert Report. We feel bad that they couldn't make it past 31%). ;)

Haha, good point.

I think Working Man was a test by HMX. I think they wanted to see how well repeat songs might do. It sounds like it's doing fairly well from MrStato's site, so that's why I think we'll get Moving Pictures as all masters if we get it (which I think there's a high probability it's coming eventually), including Tom Sawyer and Limelight.

I have a feeling it would probably work like iTunes's "Complete My Album" where it just subtracts the amount of previously purchased song from the overall album cost.

Proof? Its in the announcement today:
"The Scars on Broadway track and the Staind track are both singles from their new albums being released through Rock Band."

I wish they'd do that now. I have 2 of the Judas Priest songs. Say I wanted to buy the rest. I wish I could just do a "Complete My Album" instead of either kinda rebuying those 2 songs by buying the whole album pack, or having to download all of the rest of the songs individually.

Probably not. You can purchase the song and album seperately though not together I would assume.

I think the way they present it is a little confusing. IMO, it should read as "... are both singles released through Rock Band from their new albums." Wouldn't they just wait and release the albums all together if they planned on it?

That was how I originally interpreted that.

Don't know, usually a band will release a single before an album is released to get some radio play in order to market the new album... guess they are using the same tactic with Rock Band. Shrug... guess time will tell.

I think you misunderstood his comment. Both of these albums have yet to be released. I believe he meant these singles are being released through Rock Band for their upcoming album. They Say has been on the radio for a few weeks now and the Staind song is not actually their first single from their new album. If I remember correctly their first single is called Believe.

Sayburr, I first thought the same thing, so I immediately re-read it and came to the conclusion that Sean must have just misworded it. Otherwise, wouldn't there be an announcement today for two upcoming albums, like they did with the Cars and Pixies?

Each time I read it I can come up with seperate conclusions.
