in case you aren't serious about song 2.. The Police "Next to You" made it to the game and from what i know, police was a trio at the time.
Not to mention Rock Band is only coming with a guitar, drums, and a mic
(only me and my 2 friends will be playing it usually, so it works out)

Sting from the Police is a bassist, and a damn good one, so is Geddy Lee from Rush. Without a good rythm section (Bass and Drum) a band falls apart.

ANyway, as for Song #2, I am a fan of Blur, I have all thier albums. This song is a terrible representaion of the bands body of music. I would love to see Blur in the game tough, butI would much rather Popscene or Coutry House.

stuck playing bass? i chose it. believe it or not, bass isn't just a boring instrument with no skill to play that just plays straight eighth notes throughout songs. but looking at the music you listen to, there's no way to have a rational conversation with you about musical skill.

true country house is a better song (written musically, imo) but song 2 would have a better chance with the wider fan base

yikes i didn't put my fav bands on here so i don't know what you're looking at

i'm not in any real band (why i play gh and rock band) but based on every song ive heard, bass is repetitive -- that's the whole point of "rhythm" i thought
i guess flea could play some melody with his bass but usually he plays the same (albeit intricate) notes over and over-- not saying its a bad thing, flea is the heart of rhcp. but that's what you get when you sign up for bass, less notoriety (usually) but each instrument is or should be an equal part of each song

when i say he's the heart, i should also mention that kiedis, frusciante, and chad smith are the veins, lungs and brain of the band in no particular order

that said, i hope my "rational conversation" skills regarding music are established :D

i should also defend my original opinion: i meant playing bass in the game, not real life. bass or rhythm guitar may be some people's cup of tea but you don't see a release date coming up any time soon for Bass Hero

Flea isnt the only good bassist alive, in case you were wondering. i'll name my 3 favorite bands, The Human Abstract, Protest The Hero, and The Fall Of Troy. with each of those 3, 90% of their songs have very complex bass parts that nullify all of what you said.
