(yeah first post, whatever)
anyway, I just preordered rock band from gamestop and chose their overnight shipping option so I would get it on release day.
I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with this, and if they got their game on release day (or not).....

Did you notice there was a $19.99 surcharge for oversized handling (that's up from the original $9.99 or $12.99)

I really can't answer it, i've never pre-ordered anything in my liffe online or off. However I have pre-ordered RB but I went into the store to do it, because honestly. I just want every chance to make sure I actually do get a copy, I could care less if it's late, just as long as I don't have to wait till next year to rock out.

Yea but if it isn't there that day they refund "all" of the shipping. So, it cost a bit more. It works for me, i won't be around that day and can't risk it. so i'll pay a little bit of security.

If we pre ordered when the surchrage was still $9.99 it didn't make it go up did it?

online can be iffy with preorders, but i have preordered geras of war and forza from them before online ( although not to high in demand ) and they got bot of those there on time in perfect condition.

I pre-ordered the xbox 360 bundle plus another wireless guitar and it was $273.10 ( from the local store though )

Does anyone know which shipping company Gamestop/EB uses for overnight shipping? I'm hoping it's FedEx or DHL, because they come earlier in the day. UPS sometimes doesn't come until 5 or 6, and I often have meetings I have to be at around then...

Why would you order online? Is there really no store anywhere near you where you can get it on release day?

You don't get tracking numbers until it is about to ship.

I think the bigger question is why did the Gamestop online release date switch from 11/23 to 11/20. Does that mean all of us who order it online will get it a few days before everyone else?

No, 11/20 is the new release date for everyone, online or off.

One thing to note about Gamestop's online ordering -- don't cancel your order. It doesn't work. Unlike Amazon, where you can do it entirely through their web interface, Gamestop needs you to manually send an email in to orders@gamestop.com where a human employee manually cancels the order. The last two times I tried, things went horribly wrong; in the first one they never got the email (which is crap, I sent it through gmail, it's not like it came from some alien email host). Second time, they got it but didn't cancel the order in time.

I preordered my Rock Band at a local GameCrazy which I loathe for being basically a pawn shop full of people who pretend they know things about games when they're really making crap up. But since Amazon has screwed up preorders before, I figured, better a local store than online...

There becomes a time in your life when the last thing you want to do is stand in line for a video game.

Even if it ends up a couple days late, I'll take delivery to my door without question.
