Like would they be one of the bands we would rule out being in Rock Band like Zeppelin, The Beatles etc.
If the fact Floyd won't give up Masters has been stated can I please have a link.
So feel free to discuss why or why not Pink Floyd could be in Rock Band...
This is not a I want Pink Floyd more of a is Pink Floyd even considerable, so no "I don't think we'll get them because they suck". Logical answers please

Pink floyd wouldn't even really work, they're best songs are a lot more "progressive" then "rock".

"rock" is a very loose term... what about all the other sub-genres already in the game?
I would imagine Waters being the deciding factor.

I mean I did get Allman Brother's Band masters in RB2 so who knows...
Floyd has yet to outright say that they will not put their songs in a music game...
And yes a few songs that would work :O
Comfortably Numb
Money
Sheep
Edited for Sheep
Oh wow we have a 3 pack ;p

I never said I didn't want them because they were progressive, I'm just saying there type of music would provide a lot of blank spaces for guitar.

And you play drums for how long in Behind Blue Eyes???? Less than a minute?
HMX could select more balanced songs... Comfortably Numb, Money and release a lesser know song for the more hardcore Floyd fans

They've got a lot of songs that would work pretty well. For starters:
"Time"
"Breathe"
"Money"
"Brain Damage/Eclipse"
"Wish You Were Here"
"Have a Cigar"
"In the Flesh"
"Young Lust"
"Hey You"
"Comfortably Numb"
"Run Like Hell"
"Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2"
There's an epic 12-Pack right there!!

actually i wouldnt rule out any band, HMX seems to be able to work miracles and print their own money lately, so i wouldnt even rule out the Beatles or Led Zeppelin, even if Robert Plant is a *****, you never know, look at how AC/DC is now in, and there are rumors that Jimi Hendrix music may appear in the future. as far as i am concerned, there arent any bands off limits. it is like the old saying goes . . . Animals?
I have to be in the right mood to listen to that album - I couldn't see it as DLC.
I'm not sure which Pink Floyd album I could see as DLC. I'd take a greatest hits like:
"One of These Days" (not much vocals, but what a line!)
"Time"
"Money"
"Welcome To The Machine"
"Wish You Were Here"
"Have A Cigar"
"Comfortably Numb"
"Young Lust"
"Mother"
"Learning To Fly"
Or for the advanced listener "Several Species of Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict". :D

Piper At the Gates of Dawn
Meddle
Animals

Agreed. I'd still give certain dearly beloved parts of my body to play post-Waters Floyd. Learning to Fly, anyone? Gilmour being Gilmour, he might even give his cut of the profits to the International Organization for the Protection of Leprosy Afflicted Manatees or something like that.

that is exactly why I want Dogs. just for the epicness of playing a 20 minute song.

I'm really not sure about their inclusion in RB. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they outright refused to be in video games, but it also wouldn't surprise me if they came out with an album download. Keep in mind, they originally didn't want to be on iTunes because they are album-oriented. You can't get the whole Dark Side of the Moon experience from Time, it's all or nothing. Which is why there are album-purchase-only songs.
With that said, Dark Side of the Moon would be very epic, but Wish You Were Here would be a bit more suitable, especially for Have a Cigar, Wish You Were Here and Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Some Gilmour-led era would be cool too. Learning to Fly and Coming Back to Life come to mind.
Also more kids need to listen to Pink Floyd. Some fo the most awesome and intelligent adults I know listen to Floyd almost daily.

Plant is a ***** by default. But he's lenient when it comes to licensing actually, he was the one who got basically all of Led Zeppelin III into the movie "Almost Famous."
All of them are being *****s about this, not just Jimmy. Even though he has the masters, produced and mixed them, the article that broke the news said "Page and his fellow bandmembers."
It hurts to think of John Paul Jones as a *****. :(

If they wanted to do a whole PF album then I think Wish You Were Here would be most accessible and/or fun. The only "downtime" part would probably be the beginning of the first Shine on You Crazy Diamond as the band doesn't really kick in much for a while. Also, they'd have to chart some "non-guitar" on Welcome to the Machine to make it worthwhile. PF would be much better with a track pack of 3 or 6. Money, Wish You Were Here, Have a Cigar, Comfortably Numb, Brain Damage/Eclipse, Sheep...the list goes on, although none of them would be REALLY great on any one instrument, I still think they should be in there because they are so great.
No no no, if they release any Pink Floyd song, it's gotta be Atom Heart Mother.

I doubt we'll ever get Floyd, as much as I love them, but I still went and cooked up a 15-pack Best of Pink Floyd: Rock Band Edition.
Lucifer Sam
Let There Be More Light
The Nile Song
Astronomy Domine (Ummagumma Version)
Childhood's End
Time
Money
Brain Damage/Eclipse
Have a Cigar
Pigs (Three Different Ones)
Young Lust
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell
Learning to Fly
Take It Back
That was pretty tough to cook up, actually. A lot of Floyd's best aren't really very playable for RB. Most of the early stuff, WYWH, and Animals only really have 1 or two playable songs on them MAX, IMO. Anyways, this gets you representation for all the major eras of Floyd, some long stuff (Pigs, Astronomy Domine), some shorter stuff (Lucifer Sam, Nile Song, Young Lust), and all over the spectrum of classics and deep cuts. Thoughts?

to respond directly to Zeleii's first post, Floyd just doesn't license any of their music out for any purpose really. i havn't seen or heard anything about video games specifically, but i'm sure both co's have tried and quickly got turned down.
i think there is virtually zero chance we see Pink Floyd in a video game while all the members are still alive, especially Roger Waters. this is the same guy who took the 3 other members to court saying HE WAS Pink Floyd when they kept using the name after Waters left the band. so yeah, getting those guys to agree on anything is hard enough, much less getting them to agree on licensing for a video game.
with that said, here's my Pink Floyd Ultimate Setlist for RB, which of course will never happen but one can still dream...
Echoes (short version from Best Of)
Dogs
Comfortably Numb
Money
Time
Speak To Me / Breathe
Run Like Hell
Young Lust
Wish You Were Here
Pigs (Three Different Ones)
Sheep
Brain Damage / Eclipse
Another Brick In The Wall (Part 1) / The Happiest Days Of Our Lives / Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)

i wish it wasn't the case either, but sadly it is. still, stranger things have happened, so i guess its not entirely out of the realm of possibility. just very unlikely.
also, i really don't think ANY Floyd album could work perfectly in RB. i think WYWH and Animals would work the best, but there would still be several hang ups. personally i would want Animals over WYWH, but Pigs on the Wing wouldn't work and that starts and finishes the album.

The whole feud between both camps has considerably calmed down since the break up after The Final Cut (underrated completely). They keep in touch here and there, and all but Gilmour (and Wright to an extent) have been open to a reunion gig.

There is a metric ****load of Floyd that would be harder then some tunes already in game. The whole blank spaces arguement is garbage. Sure the do have some epic tunes that surely wouldn't qualify but there are lots of songs that would.

when i first read this, i thought u meant the Gilmour era, meaning post Syd. in which i would have said u are completely insane. but i'm hoping u meant the post-Waters era Floyd of Momentary Lapse and Division Bell. i can't say i'm a huge fan of those either, but certainly Sammy Sosa's attempt at forgetting English was worse!
Don't stop believin'.
Now that would be great. Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. That would be awesome. They need to make a Journey track pack or something. The vocals on any Journey songs would be so flippin' hard. No one can sing like that dude.

i would GLADLY play Echoes for all 23 min with u!

Hmmm... I'm not sure I totally agree. If we can't get true Floyd, I'll take it in this case. After all, it really worked great in the movie. Pink Floyd=Oscar scene :)

i mean, if that was THE only way to get Comfortably Numb and the wierd alt rock 90's version of Another Brick in the Wall was the only way to get that, i would take them. but it would also kinda feel like a slap in the face. nothing can equal Floyd, evah.

I hear ya. Covers are not like the real deal, but the thread is "Could Pink Floyd be in RB?" and I thought they must not license their stuff, but then I thought wait a minute Comfortably Numb was in The Departed.

that song was recorded seperately, so i guess Roger could approve that on his own. the chorus of that song with Van Morrison singing is pretty bad...but i would still take it. i would just have to sing along louder to drown him out.
and again, nothing can equal Gilmour's solo.

Floyd would touch a lot of younger generations who play the game in a big way!

definitely. the only problem is, our chances of gettin Floyd in RB are incredibly slim to none, and if we actually did get some, it would most certainly be the stuff everyone knows. Money, WYWH, Comfortably Numb, Another Brick, etc etc.
