Now, I've been using mousepads on my EL drums for since i got them a month a go (NEW Version with "rubber" style pads, not plastic) since teh noise was still hella loud XD

But I've usually just had 1 or 2 QUITE tight rubber bands around each drumhead to keep it in place. The sensitivity seems to be a bit lower than before (when the rubber bands are very strong and seems to push the pads down a lot ; is this wrong?). Or could it be that the mouse pads are too thick or that maybe I need to use something like doublesided tape to place them down. But without the mouse pads, the drums tend to work very well but I just can't stand the noise!

Thanks guys!

P.S. I haven't done the coin mod, would it be useful to do that?

I use duct tape. It is sngle-side so I loop it around to make it double-sided and it stays on pretty well.

Sensitivity is good.

The coin mod does not work on the EL model

Right now I'm using craft foam on my pads but I think mousepads would be a better choice. Anyone know where I could get 4 of them really cheap? I honestly could care less about colors.

You can get 2 14" Vic Firth drum mutes for $8.80 each which should be enough to make 4 pads. That's pretty cheap.

Also I used rubber (or paper) cement to glue the pads down. It's completely removable and makes a good adhesion.

I bought some RockPadz before the game came out in the UK, hoping that I would get a QM set. Imagine how upset I was when I unwrapped my EL set! I have tried the pads on the set, they are nice and quiet, but I have to hit them a hell of a lot harder to get a hit, so hard, it causes pain after a few songs.

Mouse pads are a bit thick and cushy. They'd arguably take away a lot of the sensitivity from the drums. I don't know how much they'd quiet the kit down, but I'd imagine that if they are the neopreme kind that they'd quiet it down considerably.

You can get one of the pad options listed above, or get another pad option. They'll all reduce your sensitivity a bit (supposedly the MCU pads from rockbanddrumsoft.com reduce it the least) but will effectively reduce the noise from your kit.

The coin mod is specifically for EL models, which you have. It, however, is designed to increase sensitivity and actually makes the drums much clackier as every time you hit the head you hear a metal coin vibrating against plastic.
