Thats funny because my EB in Calgary told me that "a final price point has not been announced yet". Of course this is the EB manager that told me that my last name was spelled incorrectly on my ID and that Mass Effect was on the PS3 too.

Of course we know all three of those are incorrect, but I'd still say expect to pay 10 dollars more just like all other video games. :(

If our buck keeps climbing it's going to be less then the USA.It's all about dollar value!!!!Thats why they wont give a price. They over charged for GH3 ,I paid $130 prepaid then the price droped and they had to refund every one money who prepaid.EB games that is!In the end I paid $99 for GH3 ,the same as the USA,and as of yesterday our dollar 1.07 u.s.

Yes and no. While our dollar is worth more, our economic state also has a lot to do with it.

Canada has less of a free market than the US. There are more regulations and the like.

Howeeeeveeeer....you can bet your *** that retailers are feeling the pressure. Hell, Sony is now selling all their electronics at the same price on both sides of the border, and I hear other 'big box retailers' have as of todays news paper (and the recent 7 cents to the dollar) have promised to bring prices in line with the US.

Again though. Expect to pay 10 dollars more.

If I'm wrong, we're all happy...if not, your not too surprised.

I don't catch what you mean. If you mean the PST and GST are the only reasons that the price would be raised up here I would have to disagree. I admit, I am no expert on financial stuff, but from what I'm reading in the news paper there are background taxes put into prices up in Canada that aren't in the US. Example being, cigarettes. I sell smokes for 9-12 dollars for a pack of 20. In the US? 4 bucks-ish, tops. This is due to government involvement. Same with gas prices (they have nice little graphs that eager consumers can look at on the pumps at some Super Stores).

While I agree that they should bring the prices inline with what people are paying in stores (in some cases) no farther than 100kms away, I understand that to get free healthcare and other benefits one has to make do.

On a happy note: 1% GST cut bringing it down to 5% in january. Yay!

Edit: Happy note added

For one our smokes and booze is not the same thing. Our retail prices are going down dew to the rising dollar. That is not for every thing mind you .
American products coming to Canada priced at USD we will not pay more for .Accept for the taxes.Oil and gas NO ,smokes and Booze NO.You will even see the price of auto's start to go down that come from the USA.Just look at GH3 I prepaid at $130 before all this started to happen with our dollar. On release day they had to refund ME money, I ended up paying $99 for it..............And what is 1 penny worth to the GST....just political BS. It will not make a difference unless you are rich paying hundreds of thousands!.....00.05 on the buck instead of 00.06 come on now just a bunch of B.S. BTW i'm not giving you a hard time just hate Canadian politics, and HARPER can KISS MYASS.........YAH. It's a good debate though wouldn't you say?

Prices in Canada are not exactly the same in the U.S. because Canada is a different market, and goods are priced at what the market will bear. For some things, like prescription drugs, the Canadian market is cheaper. For other things, it's more expensive. The value of the dollar is a big part of it, but not the only part.

As for the 1c GST cut not being worth anything... If you spend $10,000/yr on GST-applicable goods and services, that's a direct $100 tax cut going straight into your pocket. That will pay for Guitar Hero 4 or the next upgrade to Rock Band. If you have a family of four and a middle class income, you probably spend 2 to 3 times that much in a year on GST-applicable goods and services. That's a $200-$300/yr tax cut for the average family. If that's insignificant to you, you're richer than I am.

And far from helping the rich only, it's actually a bigger tax cut for the poor, because the poor tend to spend more of their income on goods and services, whereas the rich tend to invest a lot of it or spend it on vacations abroad or expensive real estate.

This is more what I was getting at, the different markets thing. Like I said, I am not an expert, I'm just parroting things I read in the newspaper that are from financial experts.

And I didn't mean to bring politics into this thread :/ I was just stoked that next time I pay tuition I was going to save like 30 whole bucks >.>

Edit: In the end this thread should be locked, it seems to devolved into nothing but politics (I'll admit, my fault >.>), and in the other thread the price for us Canucks was confirmed to be same as the Americans.
